Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan kansainvälistymisen diskursseja suomalaisessa korkeakoulutuksessa erilaisten korkeakoulutuksen kansainvälisyyttä käsittelevien dokumenttien kautta. Tutkimuksen analyysin kohteena ovat kolmen tahon (”Valtio”, ”Yliopistot” ja ”Opiskelijat”) dokumenteissa käytetyt legitimaatiostrategiat ja niiden käyttötarkoitukset. Finland is among the countries with the highest amount of English-taught programmes in higher education in Europe (Wächter and Maiworm 2008). This article analyses, how the higher education language situation of a small country with a marginal majority language (Finnish) and an official bilingual status (Finnish and Swedish) has historically developed from the setting of “drawing the line” between Finland and Sweden or Finland and Russia (Harle and Moisio 2000) in the 19th century and the early 20th century (nationalism), towards drawing the line between Finnish/Swedish and English in the late 20th century (globalization). ABSTRACT: The city of Seville professed a great worship of Saint James the Moor-slayer between the 16thand 18thcenturies. This study analyses the reasons why such a cult took root in Seville, converting the city into an authentic Jacobean capital. Likewise, it delves into an analysis of the artistic works that emerged there as a consequence of the worship of Saint James, with special attention devoted to the different motivations of it promoters for undertaking those works of art.

Many universities in non-English speaking countries have been adopting English as a medium of instruction to internationalize their education. We set out to compare the language policies of a Finnish and a Japanese university using the lens of language ideology – a set of normative beliefs about the social dimension of language. Data were collected from selected documents of the two universities, and analyzed utilizing critical discursive psychology. Arderique es el título de un libro de caballerías castellano, anónimo, publicado en 1517 (Valencia, Juan Viñao). El artículo se centra en la función que desempeña en la obra un personaje, san Paulicio, cuyo auxilio se muestra decisivo en determinados momentos de la acción, empezando por el nacimiento de la heroína del relato. Se estudia el posible entronque de este Paulicio de la ficción con personajes históricos y con las vitae de santos eremitas, como san Pablo de Tebas.
