Animated musical films, such as Disney’s Frozen, have long been immensely popular among the globe; however, the investigation of the songs of such films in a dubbing context constitutes a relatively new area of research. This paper compares the theme of isolation in one song from Frozen, ‘Let it go’, in the two Dutch-language dubbed versions released in, respectively, the Netherlands and Belgium. Tutkielman tarkoituksena on tarkastella, kuinka 1970-luvun brittiläistä yhteiskuntaa käsitellään Siouxsie and the Banshees -yhtyeen sanoituksissa. Siouxsie and the Banshees perustettiin 1970-luvun lopulla punk-musiikin jälkimainingeissa ja sitä pidetään yhtenä ensimmäisistä goottirock-yhtyeistä. This study compares the songs from the original, English-language version of the 2013 Disney film Frozen to those of the Dutch dubbed version, investigating how the thematic representation of love and fear differ between these versions. To support this inherently qualitative analysis, this study employs the triangle of aspects, an analytical model that identifies certain aspects and variables central to animated musical film dubbing, allowing a quantification of differences between dubbed versions. An important part in dubbing an animated musical film – as in any translation – is setting a purpose (perhaps subconsciously) for that particular project and establishing a set of priorities to achieve that purpose. This article investigates the purpose, or skopos, of the dubbing process of the Dutch songs from the 2013 Disney film Frozen, and analyses the effect of those skopi on the songs. The effects of music on the brain have been extensively researched, and numerous connections have been found between music and language, music and emotion, and music and cognitive processing. Despite this work, these three research areas have never before been drawn together in a single research paradigm. Tässä tutkimuksessa käsitellään Marja Mattlarin ”Kehtolaulun” sävellys- ja sanoitusprosessia. Huomion kohteena ovat sanoittamisen ja säveltämisen prosessien välinen vuorovaikutus sekä musiikin ja kirjoitetun kielen välinen kommunikaatio. ”Kehtolaulun” lauluntekoprosessissa sävellys ja sanoitus syntyivät yhtä aikaa ja yhdeltä istumalta. Sen vuoksi pohditaan myös syitä, jotka selittävät kahden simultaanisen prosessin onnistumisen. Tietoa hankitaan teemahaastattelun menetelmällä. Haastateltavana on lauluntekijä Marja Mattlar. Pro gradu -työssäni tutkin 2010-luvun kotimaista sotakuvausta kolmen uuden sukupolven naiskirjoittajan sota-aiheisissa teoksissa. Tutkimuskohteenani ovat Katja Ketun romaani Kätilö (2011), Heidi Köngäksen romaani Dora, Dora (2012) sekä Paula Vesalan sanoitukset Kiestinki-albumille (2011). Tutkimukseni on sekä temaattista että kontekstuaalista: Teoksista nousevien teemojen ja näkökulmien analysoinnin lisäksi selvitän, kuinka nämä sotakuvaukset uudistavat sotatulkintoja verrattuna suomalaisen sotakirjallisuustradition valtavirtaan ja historiakäsitykseen.
