Tämä luku käsittelee väkivaltaisten naisten representaatioita, eli esityksiä, 2000-luvulla tuotetussa televisiosarjassa Taisteluplaneetta Galactica, joka sisältää huomattavan paljon toiminnallisia ja moniulotteisia naishahmoja. The paper deals with foreign accent performance in two popular comedy shows in Finnish television. Two different foreign accents of L2 Finnish – Russian and Swedish – were performed by two fictional characters: Svetlana Rönkkö, a Russian-born woman, and Tove Hansson, a Swedish speaking woman coming from the Åland Islands. Our main focus is on the empirical analysis of the phonetic features in these performances. The features are analysed as such, in relation to the empirically studied, “authentic”, features of L1 Russian and Swedish Finnishes. Risk-Reducing Gynecological Surgery in Lynch Syndrome: Results of an International Survey from the Prospective Lynch Syndrome Database.

Purpose: To survey risk-reducing hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO) practice and advice regarding hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in women with Lynch syndrome. Methods: We conducted a survey in 31 contributing centers from the Prospective Lynch Syndrome Database (PLSD), which incorporates 18 countries worldwide. The survey covered local policies for risk-reducing hysterectomy and BSO in Lynch syndrome, the timing when these measures are offered, the involvement of stakeholders and advice regarding HRT. Escapist use is often considered the main use for movies in Uses and Gratification research, however there is hardly a detailed account on such use, on what the movie audience escape into. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli tutkia naispuolisten hahmojen rakentumista amerikkalaisessa Sons of Anarchy –televisiosarjassa. Sarjan tapahtumat sijoittuvat kuvitteelliseen kalifornialaiseen pikkukaupunkiin, jossa toimii lainsuojaton moottoripyöräkerho. Captain America comics were originally created in the 1940s as war propaganda. In the 2010s the story was remade as a successful movie franchise. Nowadays Hollywood is quite dependent on overseas sales, which is something they need to consider when producing their high-budget films. This thesis concentrates on how the story and the character of Captain America were reshaped to better appeal to modern and international audiences. This is done by comparing the ways America/Americans and other countries/ nationalities are addressed both in the comics and the films.
