It is no secret that comics’ formal structure resembles a pastiche: images, words and gaps of different styles and abstraction levels mix to tell a story that is more than their sum. Is it any wonder, then, that modern, myth-driven graphic novels tend to borrow their content elements – such as characters – from several heterogeneous sources as well? Wolfgang G. Pro gradu -tutkielmani käsittelee sarjakuva-ekfrasiksen mahdollisuutta sarjakuvassa. Pyrin löytämään vastauksia seuraaviin kysymyksiin: miten ja millaisista teoreettisista lähtökohdista sarjakuva-ekfrasis rakentuu? Voidaanko sarjakuva-ekfrasiksen löytämiseksi luoda vakaata tulkintakehystä, ja pystyykö käsitteelle antamaan pätevää määritelmää? Hypoteesinani on, että sarjakuvan narratiivilla on erityinen merkitys sarjakuva-ekfrasiksen paikantamisessa. Fictosexuality, Fictoromance, and Fictophilia: A Qualitative Study of Love and Desire for Fictional Characters

Fictosexuality, fictoromance, and fictophilia are terms that have recently become popular in online environments as indicators of strong and lasting feelings of love, infatuation, or desire for one or more fictional characters. This article explores the phenomenon by qualitative thematic analysis of 71 relevant online discussions. Five central themes emerge from the data: (1) fictophilic paradox, (2) fictophilic stigma, (3) fictophilic behaviors, (4) fictophilic asexuality, and (5) fictophilic supernormal stimuli.
