Blackwood's Magazine - "Nodier's Promenade"
2013
We have translated and annotated an extended review from "Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine" reporting on the publication, in English translation, of "Promenade de Dieppe aux montagnes d'Écosse" by Charles Nodier ("Promenade from Dieppe to the Mountains of Scotland", Edinburg, Blackwood, London, Cadell, 1822). The reference of the original article is as follows: "Nodier's Promenade", Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine", march 1822, vol. XI (January - June 1822).
The records of 28 taxa of marine algae from the Central Mediterranean coast of Spain are given. 24 are new records for this sector of Spanish coast. Specilly interesting are Peyssonnelia codana, recorded for first time in the mediterranean coasts of Spain, Peyssonnelia feldmannii, Ceramium fastigiatum var. flaccida, y Cystoseria sauvageauan…
2013
Charles Nodier’s summer ambulations through Scotland in 1821 were to spawn a genre: the romantic travelogue. The reader is invited on a journey through age-old legends and oneiric cartography, through the fogs of ancient Caledonia and modern Scotland, and into the land of goblins and fairies.

Identification, ecology and use blood meals from hematophagous Diptera (Glossinidae, Stomoxys and Tabanidae) for noninvasive sampling of wildlife in …
2015
The contact between human and wild fauna has considerably increased during these last decades due to the increase of human population size but also to conservation policies. As a consequence, the number of zoonotic diseases soared with a mean of six new infectious diseases per year, 75% of whom being vectorially transmitted. The way to avoid the human contamination by these emergent diseases is based on the efficient vector control resulting from a deep knowledge of the ecology and the feeding behavior of the different vector species. During our work, we have identified and characterized the ecology of 6 tsetse species (Glossina palpalis palpalis, G. fuscipes fuscipes, G. fusca congolense, …
Relaxation by urocortin of human saphenous veins
2002
Urocortin, an endogenous peptide structurally related to corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF), has potent cardiovascular effects, suggesting that it may be of significance in cardiovascular regulation. The objective of this study was to analyse the effects of urocortin and its action mechanisms on human blood vessels. To this, 3 mm long segments from human saphenous veins were prepared for isometric tension recording in an organ bath. In the segments at basal resting tone, urocortin did not produce any effect, but in the segments precontracted with endothelin-1 (1 – 10 nM), urocortin (1 pM – 10 nM) produced concentration-dependent relaxation. This relaxation was not modified by the inhibito…

Prevalence of Mycobacterium bovis in agroecosystems : analysis of potential environmental reservoirs (soil, fresh water, soil fauna and aquatic fauna…
2016
Bovine tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium bovis. This disease affects cattle, and many species of domestic and wild mammals, and humans. The circulation of the bacteria in various multi-host systems promotes the maintenance of the disease and the contamination of cattle in the vicinity. Beside direct transmission of the bacteria through the respiratory route, indirect transmission, through inhalation or ingestion of environmental matrices contaminated by an infected animal excretory, is suspected in several countries. Environmental contamination with M. bovis appears to be a crucial factor in the persistence of the infection in multi-host systems. In Côte d'Or, a F…
