Feature extraction and correlation for time-to-impact segmentation using log-polar images

In this article we present a technique that allows high-speed movement analysis using the accurate displacement measurement given by the feature extraction and correlation method. Specially, we demonstrate that it is possible to use the time to impact computation for object segmentation. This segmentation allows the detection of objects at different distances.

Gabor filtering for feature extraction on complex images: application to defect detection on semiconductors

AbstractThis paper is an extension of previous work on the image segmentation of electronic structures on patterned wafers to improve the defect detection process on optical inspection tools. Die-to-die wafer inspection is based upon the comparison of the same area on two neighbourhood dies. The dissimilarities between the images are a result of defects in this area of one of the dies. The noise level can vary from one structure to the other, within the same image. Therefore, segmentation is needed to create a mask and apply an optimal threshold in each region. Classification Boundary Approximation by Using Combination of Training Steps for Real-Time Image Segmentation

We propose a method of real-time implementation of an approximation of the support vector machine decision rule. The method uses an improvement of a supervised classification method based on hyperrectangles, which is useful for real-time image segmentation. We increase the classification and speed performances using a combination of classification methods: a support vector machine is used during a pre-processing step. Real-time image segmentation for anomalies detection using SVM approximation

In this paper, we propose a method of implementation improvement of the decision rule of the support vector machine, applied to real-time image segmentation. We present very high speed decisions (approximately 10 ns per pixel) which can be useful for detection of anomalies on manufactured parts. We propose an original combination of classifiers allowing fast and robust classification applied to image segmentation. A genetic algorithm for image segmentation

The paper describes a new algorithm for image segmentation. It is based on a genetic approach that allow us to consider the segmentation problem as a global optimization problem (GOP). For this purpose, a fitness function, based on the similarity between images, has been defined. The similarity is a function of both the intensity and the spatial position of pixels. Preliminary results, obtained using real images, show a good performance of the segmentation algorithm.

Image segmentation is a major problem in image processing, particularly in medical image analysis. A great number of segmentation procedures produce intermediate gray-scale images that can be understood as fuzzy sets. Additionally, some segmentation procedures tend to leave free tuning parameters (very influential in the final binary image) for the user. These different binary images can be easily aggregated (into a fuzzy set) by making use of fuzzy set theory. Gravitational weighted fuzzy c-means with application on multispectral image segmentation

This paper presents a novel clustering approach based on the classic Fuzzy c-means algorithm. The approach is inspired from the concept of interaction between objects in physics. Each data point is regarded as a particle. A specific weight is associated with each data particle depending on its interaction with other particles. This interaction is induced by attraction forces between pairs of particles and the escape velocity from other particles.
