Relativistic density-dependent Hartree approach for finite nuclei.

1992

We develop a relativistic density-dependent Hartree approach for finite nuclei, where the coupling constants of the relativistic Hartree Lagrangian are made density dependent and are obtained from the relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock results of nuclear matter. The calculated results on binding energies and root mean square radii of {sup 16}O and {sup 40}Ca agree very well with experiment. The charge densities from electron scattering are also calculated and their dependence on the nucleon-nucleon interaction is discussed in relation with nuclear matter properties.

Absence of structure in the $^{20,22}$Ne + $^{118}$Sn quasi-elastic barrier distribution

2005

Abstract Motivated by the extreme deformation parameters of the projectile, we have measured quasi-elastic scattering for 20 Ne +  118 Sn. In contrast to calculations based on known collective states, the experimental barrier distribution is structureless. A comparison with the system 22 Ne +  118 Sn shows that this smoothing is unlikely to be due to nucleon- or α -transfer channels, and is more likely to be due to coupling to many other weak channels.

Coherent Pions From Neutrino Scattering Off Nuclei

2010

We describe a model for pion production off nucleons and coherent pions from nuclei induced by neutrinos in the 1 GeV energy regime. Besides the dominant Delta pole contribution, it takes into account the effect of background terms required by chiral symmetry. Moreover, the model uses a reduced nucleon-to-Delta resonance axial coupling, which leads to coherent pion production cross sections around a factor two smaller than most of the previous theoretical estimates. Nuclear effects like medium corrections on the Delta propagator and final pion distortion are included.

Limits on anomalous trilinear gauge boson couplings from WW, WZ and Wγ production in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV

2012

We present searches for the anomalous γWW and ZWW trilinear gauge boson couplings from WW and WZ production using lepton plus dijet final states and a combination with results from Wγ, WW, and WZ production with leptonic final states. The analyzed data correspond to up to 8.6fb -1 of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 detector in pp- collisions at s=1.96TeV. We set the most stringent limits at a hadron collider to date assuming two different relations between the anomalous coupling parameters δκ γ, λ, and δg1Z for a cutoff energy scale Λ=2TeV. The combined 68% C.L. limits are -0.057lδκ γl0.154, -0.015lλl0.028, and -0.008lδg1Zl0.054 for the LEP parameterization, and -0.007lδκl0.081 an…

Search for flavor changing neutral currents in decays of top quarks

2011

We present a search for flavor changing neutral currents in decays of top quarks. The analysis is based on a search for ttbar -> l'null + jets (l, l' = e, mu) final states using 4.1 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity of ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV. We extract limits on the branching ratio B(t -> Zq) (q = u, c quarks), assuming anomalous tuZ or tcZ couplings. We do not observe any sign of such anomalous coupling and set a limit of B < 3.2% at 95% C.L.

Purcell factor for 3D- dipolar emitter coupling to 2D- plasmonic waveguides

2011

We theoretically investigate spontaneous emission of a quantum (3D) dipolar emitter located near a (2D) plasmonic waveguide of arbitrary form. The channels into which emitter couples (plasmon, scattering, electron-hole pairs creation) are well identified.

Purcell-enhancement of the radiative PL decay in perylenediimides by coupling with silver nanoparticles into waveguide modes

2017

In this work, an interesting approach to enhance the coupling between excitons and plasmons is proposed by integrating highly luminescent perylenediimides (PDIs) and Ag metal nanoparticles (MNPs) in the core of a multilayer dielectric waveguide. The combination of the weak plasmonic coupling and the high scattering of MNPs gives rise to a significant improvement of the PDI photoluminescence and Purcell factor (PF) in forward-scattering geometry. Furthermore, when the PDI-MNP system is used as the core of a multilayer waveguide, a Purcell factor enhancement larger than 10 is observed, which is explained by an increase in the exciton-plasmon coupling under the light confinement in the wavegui…

Inelastic and quasi-elastic light scattering in (NaCN)1?x(KCN)x quadrupolar glasses

1990

The elastic constantsc11 andc44, and the attenuation of longitudinal phonons along (100)-direction in (NaCN)1−x(KCN)x mixed crystals have been determined by brillouin spectroscopy in the temperature range fromT=10K−300K. Minima inc44 (T) which determine the freezing tempratureTF in these orientational glasses appear at lower temperatures compared to neutron scattering results. The coupling of molecular reorientations to longitudinal phonons in NaCN-rich smaples shows up in dispersion effects inc11 (T) and the appearence of a dynamical central peak nearTF.

Sign and Rank Covariance Matrices: Statistical Properties and Application to Principal Components Analysis

2002

In this paper, the estimation of covariance matrices based on multivariate sign and rank vectors is discussed. Equivariance and robustness properties of the sign and rank covariance matrices are described. We show their use for the principal components analysis (PCA) problem. Limiting efficiencies of the estimation procedures for PCA are compared.
