Comparing proton momentum distributions in A = 2 and 3 nuclei via 2H 3H and 3He (e,e′p) measurements

2019

We report the first measurement of the $(e,e'p)$ reaction cross-section ratios for Helium-3 ($^3$He), Tritium ($^3$H), and Deuterium ($d$). The measurement covered a missing momentum range of $40 \le p_{miss} \le 550$ MeV$/c$, at large momentum transfer ($\langle Q^2 \rangle \approx 1.9$ (GeV$/c$)$^2$) and $x_B>1$, which minimized contributions from non quasi-elastic (QE) reaction mechanisms. The data is compared with plane-wave impulse approximation (PWIA) calculations using realistic spectral functions and momentum distributions. The measured and PWIA-calculated cross-section ratios for $^3$He$/d$ and $^3$H$/d$ extend to just above the typical nucleon Fermi-momentum ($k_F \approx 250$ …

Cubic color charge correlator in a proton made of three quarks and a gluon

2022

The three point correlation function of color charge densities is evaluated explicitly in light cone gauge for a proton on the light cone. This includes both $C$-conjugation even and odd contributions. We account for perturbative corrections to the three-quark light cone wave function due to the emission of an internal gluon which is not required to be soft. We verify the Ward identity as well as the cancellation of UV divergences in the sum of all diagrams so that the correlator is independent of the renormalization scale. It does, however, exhibit the well known soft and collinear singularities. The expressions derived here provide the $C$-odd contribution to the initial conditions for hi…

Proton shape fluctuation and its relation to DIS

2018

We review the recent progress in extracting the proton fluctuating substructure by studying exclusive processes at HERA, and the applications of these developments in the interpretation of the LHC heavy ion data. The possibilities to extract the proton geometry directly from the LHC high-multiplicity proton-nucleus and proton-proton collision data is also discussed. peerReviewed

Selective writing and read-out of a register of static qubits

2013

We propose a setup comprising an arbitrarily large array of static qubits (SQs), which interact with a flying qubit (FQ). The SQs work as a quantum register, which can be written or read-out by means of the FQ through quantum state transfer (QST). The entire system, including the FQ's motional degrees of freedom, behaves quantum mechanically. We demonstrate a strategy allowing for selective QST between the FQ and a single SQ chosen from the register. This is achieved through a perfect mirror located beyond the SQs and suitable modulation of the inter-SQ distances.

Water Dynamics in Biological Systems investigated using Neutron Scattering Techniques

Living systems can not survive in absence of the water environments which play a fundamental role in living functions. Thus in the scienti?c community many studies were and are addressed to characterize water and its dynamics properties in biological systems. However, a clear description of water in such systems has been not reached yet. In fact, the investigations performed with di?erent techniques - those based on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance or those based on Neutron Scattering - look at di?erent di?usive motions and interactions water-biomolecules, leading controversial results and hence generating many debates between scientists. In this thesis we support the idea that two water populati…
