A new linear double phenoxide-bridged trinuclear Cu(II) Schiff base complex: Synthesis, crystallographic elucidation, magneto-structural correlation …

2014

Abstract The tetradentate (ONNO) donor Schiff base ligand LH2, derived from the condensation of salicylaldehyde and 1,3-diaminopropane, has been synthesized and reacted with CuBr2 to yield a trinuclear complex with the molecular formula [Cu3L2Br2]. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals that the two terminal copper atoms adopt a square pyramidal geometry, whereas the central copper atom, situated at the inversion centre, is surrounded by four phenoxide oxygen atoms in a square planar fashion. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurement study shows strong antiferromagnetic intra-trimer interactions between the copper centers with a J value of −302 cm−1. EPR study of the …

2013

Abstract The syntheses, structure and magnetic property of a novel two dimensional 3d–4f coordination polymer 2∞[CuSmL(NO3)2(IN)], 1 (L2−  = N, N′- propylenedi (3-ehoxysalicylideneiminato), the dianion of the Schiff base obtained from the 2:1 condensation of 3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde with 1,3-propanediamine, IN− = the isonicotinate ion) has been reported. The heterobinuclear units are connected through exo-bidentate ligands IN−, leading to an extended 2D structure. A fit of the magnetic susceptibility data yields gCu = 2.109, gSm = 0.476, JCuSm = − 0.893 cm− 1, θ = − 3.37 K, and TIP = 0.001257 emu K mol− 1 with a good discrepancy factor of Rχ = 4.4 × 10− 5. This is the first quantitative esti…

Synthesis and spectral studies on metal complexes with the neutral O,N,O-tridentate Schiff base 6-amino-5-formyl-1,3-dimethyluracil-benzoylhydrazone

1999

Abstract From the reaction between different Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Pd(II) salts and the Schiff base 6-amino-5-formyl-1,3-dimethyluracil-benzoylhydrazone (H 2 BEZDO), in ethanol and acetone media, five complexes with M/L stoichiometry 1/1, containing the neutral organic ligand, have been obtained. These compounds have been studied by IR, 13 C and 1 H-NMR, UV-VIS-NIR and EPR spectroscopies and magnetic measurements. A single crystal X-ray diffraction study has been carried out on the compound [Cu(ClO 4 )(H 2 BEZDO)(H 2 O)]ClO 4 . The structure consists of mononuclear cations [Cu(ClO 4 )(H 2 BEZDO)(H 2 O)] + and uncoordinated perchlorate anions. The coordination environment around the Cu(…

2010

Four new Cu(II)-azido complexes of formula [CuL(N(3))] (1), [CuL(N(3))](2) (2), [Cu(7)L(2)(N(3))(12)](n) (3), and [Cu(2)L(dmen)(N(3))(3)](n) (4) (dmen = N,N-dimethylethylenediamine) have been synthesized using the same tridentate Schiff base ligand HL (2-[1-(2-dimethylaminoethylimino)ethyl]phenol, the condensation product of dmen and 2-hydroxyacetophenone). The four compounds have been characterized by X-ray structural analyses and variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements. Complex 1 is mononuclear, whereas 2 is a single mu-1,1 azido-bridged dinuclear compound. The polymeric compound 3 possesses a 2D structure in which the Cu(II) ions are linked by phenoxo oxygen atoms and t…

Structure of the copper (II) perchlorate complex with Schiff base ligand containing pyridine N-oxide fragments and propylene bridges: Solvatochromic …

2005

Abstract The copper (II) perchlorate complexes with Schiff base ligands were investigated by X-ray single crystal analysis, electron spectroscopy, infrared and electron paramagnetic spectroscopy. The Schiff bases were obtained as condensation products of 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde N-oxide with dipropylenetriamine (L1) and triethylenetetramine (L3), respectively. The structure of the complex [CuL2](ClO4)2 was solved. In the structure, the ligand exists in the form of aliphatic polyamine containing two Schiff bases in contrary to the free form of this ligand with one pyrimidine ring and one Schiff base. Electronic spectra of the copper (II) perchlorate complexes of both ligands in different sol…

(S)-2-[(2-Hydroxybenzyl)azaniumyl]-4-(methylsulfanyl)butanoate

2011

The zwitterionic title compound, C12H17NO3S, is a reduced Schiff base derived from (S)-N-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)methionine. An intramolecular interaction between the N—H and carboxylate groups forms a roughly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.1405 Å) five-membered ring containing the H(N), N, Cα, C(carboxylate) and O atoms in a pentagonal conformation. In the crystal, a supramolecular triangle-shaped motif is generated by molecules held together by O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds.

Tuning the nuclearity of iron(iii) polynuclear clusters by using tetradentate Schiff-base ligands

2014

Three novel octanuclear, hexanuclear and tetranuclear complexes of high-spin Fe(III) ions were obtained by the reaction of the N,N′-bis-(1R-imidazol-4-ylmethylene)-ethane-1,2-diamine ligand (R = H, CH3) and its derivatives with Fe(ClO4)3·6H2O and KSCN. The tetradentate Schiff-base ligand acts as a bis(bidentate) chelating bridge between two adjacent high-spin Fe(III) centers. The presence of a methyl group in the imidazolyl substituent, the change of counterions or the replacement of imidazole by pyridine has a drastic effect on the nuclearity of the cluster. The magnetic properties of all compounds exhibit antiferromagnetic interactions via μ-oxo or μ-hydroxo pathways in Fe(III) dimers.

Coordination versatility of 1,5-bis(salicylidene)carbohydrazide in Ni(II) complexes

2014

Abstract Versatile coordination behavior of a polydentate Schiff base ligand 1,5-bis(salicylidene)carbohydrazide (H3bsc) has been explored in Ni(II) complexes. [Ni(H3bsc)2](ClO4)2 (1)·H2O·3CH3CN is a bis chelate mononuclear complex of H3bsc in keto form, and [Ni4(H0.5bsc)2(O2CCMe3)3(CH3OH)4](2)·2H2O·2CH3OH is a tetranuclear complex of H3bsc with an unusual coordination. In 2, one phenolate group of the ligand coordinates in a monodentate way and the other coordinates in a μ2-bridging mode to the Ni(II) center. This unusual coordination mode of the ligand stabilizes the Ni(II) complex in a tetranuclear form where the carbonyl oxygen of the ligand exists in between keto and enol form of bond …

1984

Abstract Re(NR)Cl 3 (PPh 3 )( 2 (R = p-CH 3 C 6 H 4 , CH 3 ) react with polydentate ligands (LH = N-methyl-, N-phenyl-, N-tolyl-salicylideneimine, half, N,N′-ethylenebis-, half N,N′-propylenebis-(salicylideneimine), 8-hydroxyquinoline and LH 2 = N-2-hydroxyphenylsalicylideneimine) to yield complexes of the type Re(NR)Cl 2- (L)PPh 3 . With 8-hydroxyquinoline the bisubstituted Re(NR)Cl(L) 2 complexes are also obtained. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight, and i.r. spectra. The crystal and molecular structures of two arylimido complexes, Re(p-CH 3 C 6 H 4 N)Cl 2 )RNCHC 6 H 4 O)PPh 3 with R = C 6 H 5 or CH 3 , were determined from X-ray crystallography base…
