High levels of HIF-2α highlight an immature neural crest-like neuroblastoma cell cohort located in a perivascular niche

High HIF-2alpha protein levels in the sympathetic nervous system-derived childhood tumour neuroblastoma as well as immature phenotype correlate to unfavourable outcome. Here we show that a small subset of perivascularly located, strongly HIF-2alpha-positive tumour cells (MYCN amplified) lacks expression of differentiation markers, but expresses neural crest and early sympathetic progenitor marker genes such as Notch-1, HES-1, c-Kit, dHAND, and vimentin. Nitric oxide synthases (NOS) are the major sources of nitric oxide (NO), a small bioactive molecule involved in the regulation of many cellular processes. One of the most prominent functions of NO is regulation of vasodilatation and thereby control of blood pressure. Most important for vascular tone is NOS3. Endothelial NOS3-generated NO diffuses into the vascular smooth muscle cells, activates the soluble guanylate cyclase resulting in enhanced cGMP concentrations and smooth muscle cell relaxation. First Retrievals of ASCAT-IB VOD (Vegetation Optical Depth) at Global Scale

Global and long-term vegetation optical depth (VOD) dataset are very useful to monitor the dynamics of the vegetation features, climate and environmental changes. In this study, the radar-based global ASCAT (Advanced SCATterometer) IB (INRAE-BORDEAUX) VOD was retrieved using a model which was recently calibrated over Africa. In order to assess the performance of IB VOD, the Saatchi biomass and three other VOD datasets (ASCAT V16, AMSR2 LPRM V5 and VODCA LPRM V6) derived from C-band observations were used in the comparison. QSPR/QSAR Studies of 2-Furylethylenes Using Bond-Level Quadratic Indices and Comparison with Other Computational Approaches

The recently introduced, non-stochastic and stochastic quadratic indices (Marrero-Ponce <em>et al. J. Comp. Aided Mol. Des.</em> 2006, 20, 685-701) were applied to QSAR/QSPR studies of heteroatomic molecules. These novel bond-based molecular descriptors (MDs) were used for the prediction of the partition coefficient (log P), and the antibacterial activity of 34 derivatives of 2-furylethylenes. Abstract Defensin, mytilin and myticin are antimicrobial peptides (AMP) involved in mussel innate immunity. Their in vitro antibacterial activity is different according to the targeted bacterial species. To determine if this specificity is correlated to different regulations of gene expressions, adult mussels were challenged in vivo with either Vibrio splendidus LGP32, Vibrio anguillarum , Micrococcus lysodeikticus or by heat shock.
