How can algorithms help in segmenting users and customers? : A systematic review and research agenda for algorithmic customer segmentation

What algorithm to choose for customer segmentation? Should you use one algorithm or many? How many customer segments should you create? How to evaluate the results? In this research, we carry out a systematic literature review to address such central questions in customer segmentation research and practice. The results from extracting information from 172 relevant articles show that algorithmic customer segmentation is the predominant approach for customer segmentation. We found researchers employing 46 different algorithms and 14 different evaluation metrics. For the algorithms, K-means clustering is the most employed. Segmentation is a cognitive process involved in the understanding of information perceived through the senses. Likewise, the automatic segmentation of data captured by sensors may be used for the identification of patterns. This study is concerned with the segmentation of dancing motion captured by accelerometry and its possible applications, such as pattern learning and recognition, or gestural control of devices. What makes segmentation good? A case study in boreal forest habitat mapping

Segmentation goodness evaluation is a set of approaches meant for deciding which segmentation is good. In this study, we tested different supervised segmentation evaluation measures and visual interpretation in the case of boreal forest habitat mapping in Southern Finland. The data used were WorldView-2 satellite imagery, a lidar digital elevation model (DEM), and a canopy height model (CHM) in 2 m resolution. The segmentation methods tested were the fractal net evolution approach (FNEA) and IDRISI watershed segmentation. Nuestro objetivo es ana lizar las obras que incorporan escenas animadas para representar la dictadura chilena y profundizar en la convergencia entre animación, documental y memoria. Effects of musicianship and experimental task on perceptual segmentation

The perceptual structure of music is a fundamental issue in music psychology that can be systematically addressed via computational models. This study estimated the contribution of spectral, rhythmic and tonal descriptors for prediction of perceptual segmentation across stimuli. In a real-time task, 18 musicians and 18 non-musicians indicated perceived instants of significant change for six ongoing musical stimuli.
