Suomen sekä muiden EU-maiden haasteena on ikääntyvä väestökanta ja sen mukanaan tuomat vanhusten hoivaan liittyvät kysymykset. Eliniän nousu on johtanut ikärakenteen muuttumiseen; työikäisen väestön määrä vähenee ja ikäihmisten määrä kasvaa. Sosiaa-lialan ammattialaisena olen seurannut aiheesta käytyä keskustelua eri maissa. Suomessa tämän haasteen ratkaisemiseen liittyviä keskusteluita käydään paljolti taloudellisesta näkö-kulmasta. Huomioni kiinnittyi Tanskaan, jossa vanhustenhoivaan vaaditaan elämänlaatua. Background The World Health Organization (WHO) has developed guidelines for 24-h physical activity (PA), sedentary behaviour and sleep for young children. Lower socioeconomic status (SES) has been linked to a lower likelihood of meeting these guidelines. The outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) raised concerns about young children’s opportunities to meet the guidelines. This chapter explores how growing up environments and landscapes are remembered, described and depicted in autobiographies written by people who experienced the reconstruction era in northern Finland in their childhood and youth. The article is based on a collection of submissions to the essay called “Generations of Youth” in 2010 and archived in the Finnish Folklore Archives. The texts provide an interesting opportunity to investigate the cultural meanings attached to growing up environments, mindscapes, and places of childhood and youth in post-war Finland. The low level of physical activity among young people has become a common societal concern. This study sought new information on the backgrounds of adolescents’ physical activity. The aim was to find out whether the adolescents’ subjective social status is related to physical activity. The data were collected as part of the follow-up research and evaluation of the Finnish Schools on the Move programme in 2012–2015. Yrityshistorian seminaari, "Yrityksen tarina kirjaksi", järjestettiin 21.-22. lokakuuta Mikkelissä. Hybridinä järjestetyn seminaarin järjestäjinä olivat Tilaushistoriakeskus, Elinkeinoelämän Keskusarkisto ELKA, Suomen taloushistoriallinen yhdistys ja Helsingin yliopiston Historian yksikkö. Seminaariin osallistui paikalla 40 henkilöä ja etänä 120. Seminaarin teemaa käsiteltiin niin yrityshistorian tilaajien, kirjoittajien kuin kustantajien näkökulmasta. Perhemuodon ja sisarusaseman yhteys lapsen sosiaaliseen suosituimmuuteen ja näkyvyyteen ensimmäisellä luokalla

Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin perhemuodon, sisaruuden ja syntymäjärjestyksen yhteyttä lapsen saamaan hyväksyntään ikätovereiden keskuudessa ensimmäisellä luokalla. Tutkittavina oli 154 keskisuomalaista lasta yhdeksältä luokalta. Lapsen sosiaalista suosituimmuutta ja näkyvyyttä arvioitiin ensimmäisen luokan keväällä pyytämällä lapsia mainitsemaan luokkatovereita, joiden kanssa he viettävät mielellään aikaansa ja joiden kanssa he vastaavasti eivät mielellään vietä aikaansa. Perhetaustasta kerättiin tietoa vanhemmilta kyselylomakkeella lasten ollessa esikoulussa.
