2012

The outcome of the BEYWATCH project has been spread in various ways, including different publication channels such as scientific journals and conferences, exhibitions, standardisation efforts and liaison with other relevant scientific projects. An overview of the dissemination activities is given in section 2, they include details about the Internet presence and the project presentations in workshops and conferences. Besides, some effort has been put into contribution to standardization. Contributions to standardization is found in section 3. Further, the project has set up liaisons to other European research projects. For each such activity, topics and forms of cooperation are described in…

Identification of passive layers on Co in Alkaline solutions by photocurrent spectroscopy

2005

The photoelectrochemical behavior of passive films on Co has been studied as a function of the polarizing voltage and electrolyte composition. Passive layers formed at 0 V (standard hydrogen electrode, SHE) in 0.1 M NaOH consisted of Co(OH) 2 , whose bandgap value has been found to be 1.85 eV. Higher bandgap values (2.75 eV) have been measured for passive films formed in borate buffer at 0 V (SHE), which are mainly consist of CoO. The Eg values have been related to the film composition on the basis of a correlation between the bandgap of passive films and the electronegativity of their constituents.

Construction of Disjoint Virtual Backbones for Wireless Sensor Networks

2020

A wireless sensor network is a wireless network of sensors aimed at monitoring physical events. It has ingratiated itself into almost all areas of human endeavors. Data dissemination in these networks is quite challenging and is generally accomplished by flooding. But flooding introduces broadcast storm problem due from implosion and overlap. To overcome this, topology management can prescribe a virtual backbone network to which routing is confined. In this paper we propose an algorithm that constructs multiple disjoint virtual backbone networks, using only nodes' locations. The disjointedness makes routing more robust and the network exploitation energy efficient. Simulations show our algo…

Operator splitting methods for American option pricing

2004

Abstract We propose operator splitting methods for solving the linear complementarity problems arising from the pricing of American options. The space discretization of the underlying Black-Scholes Scholes equation is done using a central finite-difference scheme. The time discretization as well as the operator splittings are based on the Crank-Nicolson method and the two-step backward differentiation formula. Numerical experiments show that the operator splitting methodology is much more efficient than the projected SOR, while the accuracy of both methods are similar.

Adaptive discontinuous evolution Galerkin method for dry atmospheric flow

2014

We present a new adaptive genuinely multidimensional method within the framework of the discontinuous Galerkin method. The discontinuous evolution Galerkin (DEG) method couples a discontinuous Galerkin formulation with approximate evolution operators. The latter are constructed using the bicharacteristics of multidimensional hyperbolic systems, such that all of the infinitely many directions of wave propagation are considered explicitly. In order to take into account multiscale phenomena that typically appear in atmospheric flows nonlinear fluxes are split into a linear part governing the acoustic and gravitational waves and a nonlinear part that models advection. Time integration is realiz…

Multi-doped Brookite-Prevalent TiO2 Photocatalyst with Enhanced Activity in the Visible Light

2018

© 2018 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature Abstract: Enabling solar and/or visible light-driven photocatalysis is a crucial step to access innovative applications in environmental science and sustainable energy. Titanium dioxide is the most used photocatalyst because of its low cost and toxicity, however it is also limitedly active under visible light irradiation due to its wide band gap. Among its polymorphs, brookite holds promising optoelectronic properties for visible light photocatalysis, which have to the best of our knowledge been limitedly exploited. Here, a C,S,N-doped brookite-based TiO2has been prepared via a rapid one-pot sol–gel synthesis. Besides subs…

Assessing B.A.Bar Device as a Tool for Supporting Labour Integration of a Severely Affected Person with Autism Who Carries Out Classifying Tasks

2004

This paper describes the case research carried out to demonstrate the utility of a specific technical aid (adapted bar code reader) to train an adult with severe autism in the performance of a work task of classifying products in a shop. The individual with autism who participated in this research has a combination of difficulties (degree of 76 percent of disability and unable to learn to read and write) and abilities (being able to follow single verbal instructions). Positive results are expounded together with considerations about the desirable features of future products that would overcome the mere training process and also be useful for the final and real task in any working environmen…

Roland Barthes: parole chiave

2016

Infinite momentum frame calculation of semileptonic heavyΛb→Λctransitions including HQET improvements

1997

We calculate the transition form factors that occur in heavy {Lambda}-type baryon semileptonic decays such as, e.g., in {Lambda}{sub b}{r_arrow}{Lambda}{sub c}{sup +}+l{sup {minus}}+{bar {nu}}{sub l}. We use Bauer-Stech-Wirbel-type infinite momentum frame wave functions for the heavy {Lambda}-type baryons which we assume to consist of a heavy quark and a light spin-isospin zero diquark system. The form factors at q{sup 2}=0 are calculated from the overlap integrals of the initial and final {Lambda}-type baryon states. To leading order in the heavy mass scale the structure of the form factors agrees with the HQET predictions including the normalization at zero recoil. The leading order {omeg…
