Ulam Stability for the Composition of Operators

Lévy flights and Lévy-Schrödinger semigroups

We analyze two different confining mechanisms for L\'{e}vy flights in the presence of external potentials. One of them is due to a conservative force in the corresponding Langevin equation. Another is implemented by Levy-Schroedinger semigroups which induce so-called topological Levy processes (Levy flights with locally modified jump rates in the master equation). Given a stationary probability function (pdf) associated with the Langevin-based fractional Fokker-Planck equation, we demonstrate that generically there exists a topological L\'{e}vy process with the very same invariant pdf and in the reverse.

In this article we apply the S(M, g)–calculus of L. Hormander and, in particular, results concerning the spectral invariance of the algebra of operators of order zero in ℒ(L2(ℝn)) to study generators of Feller semigroups. The core of the article is the proof of the invertibility of λ Id + P for a strongly elliptic operator P in Ψ(M, g) and suitable weight functions M and metrics g. The proof depends highly on precise estimates of the remainder term in asymptotic expansions of the product symbol in Weyl and Kohn–Nirenberg quantization. Commutators, C0-semigroups and resolvent estimates

Abstract We study the existence and the continuity properties of the boundary values on the real axis of the resolvent of a self-adjoint operator H in the framework of the conjugate operator method initiated by Mourre. We allow the conjugate operator A to be the generator of a C 0 -semigroup (finer estimates require A to be maximal symmetric) and we consider situations where the first commutator [ H ,i A ] is not comparable to H . The applications include the spectral theory of zero mass quantum field models.

Global properties of generalized Ornstein–Uhlenbeck operators on Lp(RN,RN) with more than linearly growing coefficients

AbstractWe show that the realization Ap of the elliptic operator Au=div(Q∇u)+F⋅∇u+Vu in Lp(RN,RN), p∈[1,+∞[, generates a strongly continuous semigroup, and we determine its domain D(Ap)={u∈W2,p(RN,RN):F⋅∇u+Vu∈Lp(RN,RN)} if 1<p<+∞. The diffusion coefficients Q=(qij) are uniformly elliptic and bounded together with their first-order derivatives, the drift coefficients F can grow as |x|log|x|, and V can grow logarithmically. Our approach relies on the Monniaux–Prüss theorem on the sum of noncommuting operators.
