Electrodeposition and characterization of Mo oxide nanostructures
2015
Template electrodeposition has been used to grow uniform arrays of molybdenum oxide nanostructures in polycarbonate membrane. Several parameters have been investigated, like electrodeposition, time and solution pH. These parameters do not influence the nature of the deposit that always consists of mixed valence molybdenum oxides, whereas the nanostructure morphology changes with pH. In particular, at low pH (2.7), nanotubes are formed, whilst arrays of nanowires are obtained above pH 5.5. This change of morphology is likely due to H2 bubbles evolution during the electrochemical deposition, particularly occurring at low pH. It was found that fast removal of H2 bubbles through vigorous stirri…
Fine structure in the α decay of high-spin isomers in 155Lu and 156Hf
2018
Fine structure in the α decay of high-spin isomers in 155Lu(25/2−) and 156Hf (8+) has been studied for the first time using αγ -coincidence analysis. Three new α decays from 155Lu(25/2−) and two from 156Hf (8+) have been identified, populating seniority s > 1 states in the N = 82 nuclei 151Tm and 152Yb, respectively. The reduced hindrance factors of the α decays support the previous configuration assignments of the populated states. This is the first observation of states with excitation energy greater than 1.5 MeV being populated following α decay in nuclei outside of the 208Pb region. peerReviewed
Level structure above the 17+ isomeric state in 152 69 Tm83
2018
Excited states above the 17+ isomeric state in the proton-rich nucleus 152Tm were established by employing the recoil-isomer tagging technique. Data were collected using the JUROGAM gamma-ray array and the GREAT spectrometer together with the recoil ion transport unit (RITU) gas-filled recoil separator and analyzed to identify the prompt and delayed γ decays from the levels in 152Tm. Shell-model calculations, either in a large valence space or in a reduced model space with five protons in the π0h11/2 orbital and one neutron in the ν1f7/2 orbital, agree with the observed energies of the yrast levels up to angular momentum J = 21. The observation of near degeneracies in the energy spectrum ca…
On Apache Log4j2 Exploitation in Aeronautical, Maritime, and Aerospace Communication
2022
Apache Log4j2 is a prevalent logging library for Java-based applications. In December 2021, several critical and high-impact software vulnerabilities, including CVE-2021-44228, were publicly disclosed, enabling remote code execution (RCE) and denial of service (DoS) attacks. To date, these vulnerabilities are considered critical and the consequences of their disclosure far-reaching. The vulnerabilities potentially affect a wide range of internet of things (IoT) devices, embedded devices, critical infrastructure (CI), and cyber-physical systems (CPSs). In this paper, we study the effects and feasibility of exploiting these vulnerabilities in mission-critical aviation and maritime environment…
Dicyclopentaannelated Hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronenes with a Singlet Biradical Ground State
2021
Abstract Synthesis of two dicyclopentaannelated hexa‐peri‐hexabenzocoronene (PHBC) regioisomers was carried out, using nonplanar oligoaryl precursors with fluorenyl groups: mPHBC 8 with two pentagons in the “meta”‐configuration was obtained as a stable molecule, while its structural isomer with the “para”‐configuration, pPHBC 16, could be generated and characterized only in situ due to its high chemical reactivity. Both PHBCs exhibit low energy gaps, as reflected by UV‐vis‐NIR absorption and electrochemical measurements. They also show open‐shell singlet ground states according to electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The use of…
Ligand mediated evolution of size dependent magnetism in cobalt nanoclusters.
2018
We use density functional theory to model the impact of a ligand shell on the magnetic properties of CoN (15 ≤ N ≤ 55) nanoclusters. We study three different ligand shells on each nanocluster core size, each known to have different electronic interactions with the surface: pure Cl ligand shells (X-type), pure PH3 ligand shells (L-type), and two component ligand shells with mixtures of Cl and PH3 ligands. The simulations show that the identity, arrangement, and total coverage of the ligand shell controls the distribution of local magnetic moments across the CoN core. On the surface of an unpassivated CoN nanocluster, the Co-Co coordination number (CN) is known to determine the local magnetic…
Increasing the drying efficiency of cylinder drying
2011
This PhD Thesis concentrates on paper drying: first on the drying rate in a cylinder covered with fabric, enhanced using hot air impingement through the fabric, and its potential effects on paper quality, and second, on the heat transfer rate from hot steam to paper through the cylinder shell. Cylinder drying is a drying method where a heated surface in contact with paper causes water removal from the latter by evaporation. Impingement through the fabric of hot air has been suggested to cause increase in the water removal and drying of paper. Increase in the drying rate by impingement of hot air was confirmed by laboratory tests and by simulations. In laboratory tests the increase in the dr…
Dynamic tuning of the director field in liquid crystal shells using block copolymers
2020
When an orientationally ordered system, like a nematic liquid crystal (LC), is confined on a self-closing spherical shell, topological constraints arise with intriguing consequences that depend critically on how the LC is aligned in the shell. We demonstrate reversible dynamic tuning of the alignment, and thereby the topology, of nematic LC shells stabilized by the nonionic amphiphilic block copolymer Pluronic F127. Deep in the nematic phase, the director (the average molecule orientation) is tangential to the interface, but upon approaching the temperature TNI of the nematic– isotropic transition, the director realigns to normal. We link this to a delicate interplay between an interfacial …
Zastosowanie skorup jaj do usuwania metali ciężkich ze ścieków z instalacji odsiarczania spalin
2018
Do badań użyto mieszanych roztworów Ni, Cu i Cd składem zbliżonych do ścieków z instalacji mokrego odsiarczania spalin: Ni (0,526-3,118 mg/dm3 ), Cu (0,483-4,285 mg/dm3 ) i Cd (0,372-0,875 mg/dm3 ). Metale oznaczano metodą a…
