The human ability to implement a sustained attention task is supported by brain networks that dynamically formed and dissolved through oscillatory synchronization. Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitettiin ketjutusta (chaining) kieleilyn (languaging) käytänteenä viittomakielen tulkkauksessa. Tutkimuskysymyksinä esitettiin, mitä semioottisia resursseja viittomakielen tulkit käyttivät englantia sisältävissä ketjutussekvensseissä sekä mitä funktioita em. sekvensseillä oli. Tutkimuksessa tuotettiin yksityiskohtaista kuvausta autenttisesta aineistosta. Tutkimuskohteena oli kolme englannin kielestä suomalaiselle viittomakielelle tulkattua korkeakoululuentoa. Luennot videoitiin ja niistä paikannettiin ne kohdat, joissa tulkkeessa esiintyi englantia. Nämä kohdat annotoitiin käyttäen ELAN-annotointiohjelmaa. Artikkelissa kuvaamme lyhyesti suomalaisen viittomakielen taitotasokuvainten ja arviointikriteereiden kehittämistä ja siihen liittyvää validointiprosessia Soveltavan kielentutkimuksen keskuksessa. Suomalaisessa viittomakielessä ei aiemmin ole ollut yhtenäisiä, teoreettisesti määriteltyjä kuvauksia viittomakielen taidon kehittymisestä. Nyt kehitetyissä taitotasokuvaimissa ja arviointikriteereissä viittomakielen taito on kuvattu kuusiportaisella asteikolla kolmessa eri osataidossa: viittomakielen ymmärtämisessä, viittomakielen itsenäisessä tuottamisessa ja viittomakielisessä keskustelussa. Raising the Profile of Sign Language Teachers in Finland

Sign language teaching in Finland has a long history. In contrast, sign language teacher training programs and research into the sign languages of Finland both know a short history. Due to this contrast, the field of sign language teaching nowadays can be seen as the ‘Wild West’. Till today, teachers from different backgrounds do teach sign language. We do not have a clear picture of what knowledge or competencies are expected from these teachers. In this article we would like to share our opinions about what the profile of a sign language teacher could look like in order to raise and advance the discussion and improve the quality of sign language teaching in Finland. nonPeerReviewed

ABSTRACT Recent reports suggest that nuclear domain(s) 10 (ND10) is the site of papillomavirus morphogenesis. The viral genome replicates in or close to ND10. In addition, the minor capsid protein, L2, accumulates in these subnuclear structures and recruits the major capsid protein, L1. We have now used cell lines deficient for promyelocytic leukemia (PML) protein, the main structural component of ND10, to study the role of this nuclear protein for L2 incorporation into virus-like particles (VLPs).
