Form factors in the 'point form' of relativistic quantum mechanics : single and two-particle currents

2004

Electromagnetic and Lorentz-scalar form factors are calculated for a bound system of two spin-less particles exchanging a zero-mass scalar particle. Different approaches are considered including solutions of a Bethe-Salpeter equation, a ``point form'' approach to relativistic quantum mechanics and a non-relativistic one. The comparison of the Bethe-Salpeter results, which play the role of an ``experiment'' here, with the ones obtained in ``point form'' in single-particle approximation, evidences sizable discrepancies, pointing to large contributions from two-body currents in the latter approach. These ones are constructed using two constraints: ensuring current conservation and reproducing …

Double pion photoproduction in nuclei

1995

The inclusive A(gamma,pi+ pi-)X reaction is studied theoretically. A sizeable enhancement of the cross section is found, in comparison with the scaling of the deuteron cross section (sigma_deuteron * A/2). This enhancement is due to the modifications in the nuclear medium of the gamma N ----> pi pi N amplitude and the pion dispersion relation. The enhancement is found to be bigger than the one already observed in the (pi,pi pi) reaction in nuclei.

The imaginary part of the nucleon self-energy in hot nuclear matter

1996

A semiphenomenological approach to the nucleon self-energy in nuclear matter at finite temperatures is followed. It combines elements of Thermo Field Dynamics for the treatment of finite temperature with a model for the self-energy, which evaluates the second order diagrams taking the needed dynamics of the NN interaction from experiment. The approach proved to be accurate at zero temperature to reproduce Im(Sigma) and other properties of nucleons in matter. In the present case we apply it to determine Im(Sigma) at finite temperatures. An effective NN cross section is deduced which can be easily used in analyses of heavy ion reactions.

Search for the standard model Higgs boson in the ZH→νν¯bb¯ channel in 9.5 fb−1 of pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV

2012

We present a search for the standard model Higgs boson in 9.5 fb-1 of ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The final state considered contains a pair of b jets and is characterized by an imbalance in transverse energy, as expected from ppbar->ZH->vvbb production. The search is also sensitive to the WH->lvbb channel when the charged lepton is not identified. The data are found to be in good agreement with the expected background. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, we set a limit at the 95% C.L. on the cross section sigma(ppbar->[Z/W]H), assuming standard model branching fractions, that is a factor of 4.3 times larger than th…

Measurement ofCPviolation observables and parameters for the decaysB±→DK*±

2009

We study the decay B--> DK*- using a sample of 379x10(6) Upsilon(4S)-> BB events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B factory. We perform a Gronau-London-Wyler analysis where the D meson decays into either a CP-even (CP+) eigenstate (K+K-, pi(+)pi(-)), CP-odd (CP-) eigenstate (K-S(0)pi(0), K-S(0)phi, K-S(0)omega) or a non-CP state (K-pi(+)). We also analyze D meson decays into K+pi(-) from a Cabibbo-favored D-0 decay or doubly suppressed D-0 decay [Atwood-Dunietz-Soni (ADS) analysis]. We measure observables that are sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle gamma: the partial-rate charge asymmetries A(CP +/-), the ratios R-CP +/- of the B-decay branching fractions in CP …

Low-mass vector-meson production at forward rapidity inp+pcollisions ats=200  GeV

2014

The PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has measured low-mass vector-meson ,omega, rho, and phi, production through the dimuon decay channel at forward rapidity (1.2 mu mu) = 80 +/- 6(stat) +/- 12(syst)nb and d sigma/dy(phi -> mu mu) = 27 +/- 3(stat) +/- 4(syst)nb. These results are compared with midrapidity measurements and calculations.

Measurement of theZZproduction cross section and search for the standard model Higgs boson in the four lepton final state inpp¯collisions

2013

We present a measurement of Z boson pair production in p (p) over bar collisions at 1.96 TeV with 9.6 to 9.8 fb(-1) of D0 data. We examine the final states eeee, ee mu mu, and mu mu mu mu. Based on selected data, the measured cross section in the mass region M(Z/gamma*) > 30 GeV is sigma(p (p) over bar -> Z/gamma*Z/gamma*) = 1.26(-0.36)(+0.44)(stat)(-0.15)(+0.17) X (syst) +/- 0.08 (lumi) pb; after correcting for the expected ratio of sigma (p (p) over bar -> Z/gamma*Z/gamma*) to sigma(p (p) over bar -> ZZ), we derive a cross section for p (p) over bar -> ZZ production of 1.05(-0.30)(+0.37)(stat)(-0.12)(0.14)(syst) +/- 0.06 (lumi) pb. This result is combined with a previous result from the Z…

χ c0 (1 P ) decay intoΣ¯ Σπin search of an I = 1, 1/2 − baryon state aroundK¯Nthreshold

2016

Abstract We present the theoretical study of the process χ c 0 ( 1 P ) → Σ ¯ Σ π decay, by taking into account the π Σ and π Σ ¯ final state interactions of the final meson-baryon pair based on the chiral unitary approach. We show that the process filters the isospin I = 1 in the π Σ channel and offers a reaction to test the existence of an I = 1 state with strangeness S = − 1 and spin-parity J p = 1 / 2 − around the K ¯ N threshold predicted by some theories and supported by some experiments.

Evaluation of the pi pi-scattering amplitude in the sigma-channel at finite density

2005

The $\pi\pi$ scattering amplitude in the $\sigma$-channel is studied at finite baryonic density in the framework of a chiral unitary approach which successfully reproduces the meson meson phase shifts and generates the $f_0$ and $\sigma$ resonances in vacuum. We address here a new variety of mechanisms recently suggested to modify the $\pi\pi$ interaction in the medium, as well as the role of the $s-$wave selfenergy, in addition to the $p-$wave, in the dressing of the pion propagators.
