Random telegraph signal transients in active logarithmic continuous-time vision sensors

2015

Abstract Random Telegraph Signal (RTS) is a well-known source of noise in current submicron circuits. Its static effects have been widely studied and its noise levels are in the order of other noise sources, especially for moderate submicron transistors. Nevertheless, RTS events may produce transients many times larger than the RTS itself, and this problem seems to have not yet been addressed. In this article we present results on the transients produced by RTS events in a smart vision sensor. RTS transients in closed-loop amplifiers can be many times greater than static RTS. The duration of the RTS transient may last for several milliseconds, and can be considered almost stationary for som…

Measurement ofνμandν¯μinduced neutral current singleπ0production cross sections on mineral oil atEν∼O(1 GeV)

2010

MiniBooNE reports the first absolute cross sections for neutral current single {pi}{sup 0} production on CH{sub 2} induced by neutrino and antineutrino interactions measured from the largest sets of NC {pi}{sup 0} events collected to date. The principal result consists of differential cross sections measured as functions of {pi}{sup 0} momentum and {pi}{sup 0} angle averaged over the neutrino flux at MiniBooNE. We find total cross sections of (4.76 {+-} 0.05{sub stat} {+-} 0.40{sub sys}) x 10{sup -40} cm{sup 2}/nucleon at a mean energy of = 808 MeV and (1.48 {+-} 0.05{sub stat} {+-} 0.14{sub sys}) x 10{sup -40} cm{sup 2}/nucleon at a mean energy of = 664 MeV for {nu}{sub {mu}} and {bar {nu}…

Single-energy partial wave analysis for π0 photoproduction on the proton with fixed- t analyticity imposed

2019

High-precision data of the $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}p$ reaction from its threshold up to $W=1.9\phantom{\rule{0.28em}{0ex}}\mathrm{GeV}$ have been used in order to perform a single-energy partial-wave analysis with minimal model dependence. Continuity in energy was achieved by imposing constraints from fixed-$t$ analyticity in an iterative procedure. Reaction models were only used as starting point in the very first iteration. We demonstrate that, with this procedure, partial-wave amplitudes can be obtained which show only a minimal dependence on the initial model assumptions.

Testing the H.264 error-resilience on wireless ad-hoc networks

2004

The purpose of this paper is to provide a framework to tune and evaluate the performance of the H.264 codec in 802.11b wireless ad-hoc networks. The codec's error-resilience features are measured under stress conditions typical to these networks, and the most critical parameters are presented. We present solutions concerning the random packet loss problem and show how to quickly recover from packet loss bursts.

Network Connectivity and Area Coverage for UAV Fleet Mobility Model with Energy Constraint

2016

International audience; Our main focus through the present paper is on developing an original distributed mobility model for autonomous fleet of interconnected UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) performing an area exploration mission. The UAVs, equipped with wireless ad-hoc capabilities, are required to optimally explore an area while maintaining connectivity with their neighboring UAVs and the base station. Because energy is a scarce resource, especially for UAVs, its wise management is quite beneficial for the network lifetime and mission success. Hence, the proposed mobility model, compared to other models in the literature, is the first to ever include the remaining energy level as decisio…

MFCC-based Recurrent Neural Network for automatic clinical depression recognition and assessment from speech

2022

Abstract Clinical depression or Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a common and serious medical illness. In this paper, a deep Recurrent Neural Network-based framework is presented to detect depression and to predict its severity level from speech. Low-level and high-level audio features are extracted from audio recordings to predict the 24 scores of the Patient Health Questionnaire and the binary class of depression diagnosis. To overcome the problem of the small size of Speech Depression Recognition (SDR) datasets, expanding training labels and transferred features are considered. The proposed approach outperforms the state-of-art approaches on the DAIC-WOZ database with an overall accura…

LabVIEW modeling and simulation, of the low-pass and high-pass analog filters

2015

Some programs for simulating different types of filters are developed using LabView software. Implementing a simulation program of an analog filter requires the prior establishment of mathematical model. As a general purpose programming environment, LabVIEW offers possibility of achieving some user programs for plotting frequency characteristics of passive and active analog filters, if established beforehand mathematical models that characterize their behavior. The scientific objectives of this paper are: -the analysis of the possibilities of using virtual instrumentation in the study of electrical filters; -implementation of virtual instruments for analysis and simulation of analog filters…

Imaging quality of multifocal intraocular lenses: automated assessment setup

2012

[EN] Purpose: A new technique for the assessment of the optical quality of multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOLs) under monochromatic and polychromatic illumination is presented. Methods: The system provides, in a totally automated procedure, the modulation transfer function (MTF) of the lens under test for different axial positions of the object. The artificial eye admits different artificial corneas, to optimise the axial resolution in the sampling of the MTF of the MIOL under test, and different pupils, to test the dependence of the optical performance of the MIOL on the eye pupil diameter. Results: The performance and sensitivity of the apparatus is tested with different commercial MIOLs…

Intraosseous monitoring of drilling in lumbar vertebrae by ultrasound: An experimental feasibility study.

2016

The rationale for this project is to evaluate the efficiency of a novel sonographic method for measurements of interosseous distances. The method utilizes a propagating ultrasonic beam through aqueous milieu which is directed as a jet into a drilled tract. We used a plastic model of human L5 vertebra and ex vivo specimen of L5 porcine vertebra and generated 2 mm in diameter tracts in vertebral pedicles. The tracts were created in the "desired" central direction and in the "wrong" medial and lateral directions. The drilled tracts and the residual, up to opposite cortex, distances were measured sonographically and mechanically and compared statistically. We show that "true" mechanical measure…
