Observation of a Resonant Structure in e+e−→K+K−π0π0

A partial-wave analysis is performed for the process e^{+}e^{-}→K^{+}K^{-}π^{0}π^{0} at the center-of-mass energies ranging from 2.000 to 2.644 GeV. The data samples of e^{+}e^{-} collisions, collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider with a total integrated luminosity of 300 pb^{-1}, are analyzed. The total Born cross sections for the process e^{+}e^{-}→K^{+}K^{-}π^{0}π^{0}, as well as the Born cross sections for the subprocesses e^{+}e^{-}→ϕπ^{0}π^{0}, K^{+}(1460)K^{-}, K_{1}^{+}(1400)K^{-}, K_{1}^{+}(1270)K^{-}, and K^{*+}(892)K^{*-}(892), are measured versus the center-of-mass energy. Production of charged pions, kaons, and (anti-)protons in Pb-Pb and inelastic pp collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV

Mid-rapidity production of $\pi^{\pm}$, $\rm{K}^{\pm}$ and ($\bar{\rm{p}}$)p measured by the ALICE experiment at the LHC, in Pb-Pb and inelastic pp collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV, is presented. The invariant yields are measured over a wide transverse momentum ($p_{\rm{T}}$) range from hundreds of MeV/$c$ up to 20 GeV/$c$. The results in Pb-Pb collisions are presented as a function of the collision centrality, in the range 0$-$90%. The comparison of the $p_{\rm{T}}$-integrated particle ratios, i.e. proton-to-pion (p/$\pi$) and kaon-to-pion (K/$\pi$) ratios, with similar measurements in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}$ = 2.76 TeV show no significant energy dependence. Search for Neutral Higgs Bosons Decaying to Tau Pairs inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96 TeV

A search for the production of neutral Higgs bosons {Phi} decaying into {tau}{sup +}{tau}{sup -} final states in p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV is presented. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 325 pb{sup -1}, were collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Since no excess compared to the expectation from standard model processes is found, limits on the production cross section times branching ratio are set. The results are combined with those obtained from the D0 search for {Phi}b({bar b}) {yields} b{bar b}b({bar b}) and are interpreted in the minimal supersymmetric standard model.
Search for Large Extra Spatial Dimensions in the Dielectron and Diphoton Channels inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96 TeV

We report on a search for large extra spatial dimensions in the dielectron and diphoton channels using a data sample of 1.05 \invfb of \ppb collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The invariant mass spectrum of the data agrees well with the prediction of the standard model. We find 95% C.L. lower limits on the effective Planck scale between 2.1 and 1.3 TeV for 2 to 7 extra dimensions.
Evidence of a Broad Structure at an Invariant Mass of4.32 GeV/c2in the Reactione+e−→π+π−ψ(2S)Measured atBABAR

The authors measure the cross section for the process e{sup +}e{sup -} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{psi}(2S) from threshold up to 8 GeV center-of-mass energy using events containing initial-state radiation, produced at the PEP-II e{sup +}e{sup -} storage rings. The study is based on 298 fb{sup -1} of data recorded with the BABAR detector. A structure is observed in the cross-section not far above threshold, near 4.32 GeV. This structure is not compatible with the Y(4260) previously reported by this experiment. A single resonance is adequate to describe the cross-section in the low-energy region (< 5.7 GeV).
Observation of Long-Range Elliptic Azimuthal Anisotropies ins=13and 2.76 TeVppCollisions with the ATLAS Detector

ATLAS has measured two-particle correlations as a function of relative azimuthal-angle, $\Delta \phi$, and pseudorapidity, $\Delta \eta$, in $\sqrt{s}$=13 and 2.76 TeV $pp$ collisions at the LHC using charged particles measured in the pseudorapidity interval $|\eta|$<2.5. The correlation functions evaluated in different intervals of measured charged-particle multiplicity show a multiplicity-dependent enhancement at $\Delta \phi \sim 0$ that extends over a wide range of $\Delta\eta$, which has been referred to as the "ridge". New physics in the kinematic distributions of B¯→D(*)τ−(→ℓ−ν¯ℓντ)ν¯τ

We investigate the experimentally accessible kinematic distributions of the $\overline{B}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{(*)}{\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}(\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}){\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}$ decays. Specifically, we study the decay rates as functions of the $B\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{(*)}$ transferred squared momentum, the energy of the final charged lepton and the angle of its 3-momentum with respect to the 3-momentum of the recoiling ${D}^{(*)}$. Search for New Physics with a Dijet Plus MissingETSignature inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96 TeV

We present results of a signature-based search for new physics using a dijet plus missing transverse energy (E{sub T}) data sample collected in 2 fb{sup -1} of p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We observe no significant event excess with respect to the standard model prediction and extract a 95% C.L. upper limit on the cross section times acceptance for a potential contribution from a non-standard model process. Based on this limit the mass of a potential first or second generation scalar leptoquark is constrained to be above 187 GeV/c{sup 2}.
I=1/2 S -wave and P -wave Kπ scattering and the κ and K* resonances from lattice QCD

We present a lattice-QCD determination of the elastic isospin-$1/2$ $S$-wave and $P$-wave $K\ensuremath{\pi}$ scattering amplitudes as a function of the center-of-mass energy using L\"uscher's method. We perform global fits of $K$-matrix parametrizations to the finite-volume energy spectra for all irreducible representations with total momenta up to $\sqrt{3}\frac{2\ensuremath{\pi}}{L}$; this includes irreducible representations (irreps) that mix the $S$- and $P$-waves. Several different parametrizations for the energy dependence of the $K$-matrix are considered. Experimental validation of a novel compact focusing scheme for future energy-frontier linear lepton colliders.
2014
A novel scheme for the focusing of high-energy leptons in future linear colliders was proposed in 2001 [ P. Raimondi and A. Seryi , Phys. Rev. Lett. 86 , 3779 ( 2001 ) ]. This scheme has many advantageous properties over previously studied focusing schemes, including being significantly shorter for a given energy and having a significantly better energy bandwidth. Experimental results from the ATF2 accelerator at KEK are presented that validate the operating principle of such a scheme by demonstrating the demagnification of a 1.3 GeV electron beam down to below 65 nm in height using an energy-scaled version of the compact focusing optics designed for the ILC collider.
