Spectral estimators for Doppler analysis of intracoronary ultrasound catheters

With the zero-cross-detection method (ZCD) it has been shown that it is not possible to achieve a reproducible quantitative, and robust evaluation of an inter-coronary audio signal. The authors define spectral estimators to analyze the Doppler-audio signal. Measurements in a blood flow model have shown that the ZCD method underestimates the expected velocity at all speeds. Comparison of remote photoplethysmography signals acquired by ultra-low noise camera and conventional camera during physiological tests

In present study, remote photoplethysmography signals acquired by ultra-low noise camera and conventional camera were compared during different skin microcirculation provocation tests. The aim of work was to reveal how much of camera dynamic range and noise contribute to blood perfusion signal quality. Results demonstrate comparable capabilities of both cameras for skin perfusion monitoring.

Deep learning algorithms for gravitational waves core-collapse supernova detection

The detection of gravitational waves from core-collapse supernova (CCSN) explosions is a challenging task, yet to be achieved, in which it is key the connection between multiple messengers, including neutrinos and electromagnetic signals. Energy balance in single exposure multispectral sensors

International audience; Recent simulations of multispectral sensors are based on a simple Gaussian model, which includes filters transmittance and substrate absorption. In this paper we want to make the distinction between these two layers. We discuss the balance of energy by channel in multispectral solid state sensors and propose an updated simple Gaussian model to simulate multispectral sensors. Results are based on simulation of typical sensor configurations.

In this paper we focus on automatically learning object models in the framework of keypoint based object recognition. The proposed method uses a collection of views of the objects to build the model. For each object the collection is composed of N×M views obtained rotating the object around its vertical and horizontal axis. A new weighted normal-based filter for 3D mesh denoising

In this paper, we propose a normal based filtering method for 3D mesh denoising. For this purpose, we compute the new triangle normal vectors by using a weighted sum of the average (smoothness) and the myriad (sharpness) filters in each neighborhood. These weights, that reflect the degree of the surface sharpness, are calculated according to the statistical distribution of the angles between the normal vectors of the triangles. Mechanisms of endothelial cell swelling from lactacidosis studied in vitro

One of the early sequelae of ischemia is an increase of circulating lactic acid that occurs in response to anaerobic metabolism. The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether lactic acidosis can induce endothelial swelling in vitro under closely controlled extracellular conditions. Cell volume of suspended cultured bovine aortic endothelial cells was measured by use of an advanced Coulter technique employing the “pulse area analysis” signal-processing technique (CASY1). The isosmotic reduction of pH from 7.4 to 6.8 had no effect on cell volume. Lowering of pH to 6.6, 6.4, or 6.0, however, led to significant, pH-dependent increases of cell volume.
