International audience; Measurement of the transport phenomena of volatile compounds is a central preoccupation in food flavour and is the subject of the present paper. After a theoretical reminder concerning transport phenomena, the methods used for the measurement of diffusion and mass transfer of volatile compounds are described with their principles, main advantages and drawbacks. Smart camera design for intensive embedded computing

Computer-assisted vision plays an important role in our society, in various fields such as personal and goods safety, industrial production, telecommunications, robotics, etc. However, technical developments are still rare and slowed down by various factors linked to sensor cost, lack of system flexibility, difficulty of rapidly developing complex and robust applications, and lack of interaction among these systems themselves, or with their environment. This paper describes our proposal for a smart camera with real-time video processing capabilities. A CMOS sensor, processor and, reconfigurable unit associated in the same chip will allow scalability, flexibility, and high performance.

Semiactive–passive structural vibration control strategy for adjacent structures under seismic excitation

Abstract The objective of this paper is to study a structural vibration control strategy for seismic protection of multi-structure systems that combines interstructure passive damping elements with local feedback control systems implemented in the substructures. These local feedback control systems are independently designed and operated, and use semiactive devices with limited actuation capacity as force actuators. Laboratory test is taken into account as set of processes for which some number of environmental parameters must be controlled. It is of great importance to choose a suitable district heating (DH) system for a specific DH area from the economics, environment and energy (3E) points of view. This is a multicriteria decision making problem, in which the criteria performance values (PVs) and weighting are characterized by uncertain or imprecise information. In this study, seven candidate DH systems are evaluated from the viewpoints of 3E by the stochastic multicriteria acceptability analysis (SMAA) method. A Novel Linear-Non-Linear Digital Control for DC/DC Converter with Fast Transient Response

In this paper, a digitally controlled multimodule DC-DC converter with fast transient response, based on a linear-nonlinear control is presented. The proposed digital control improves the stability of the system, cuts off the effects of limit-cycle and reduces the recovery time, by making the "effective" bandwidth of the system independent of the bandwidth of the linear control loop and limits, at the same time, output voltage variations. Bidirectional high-power high-efficiency non-isolated step-up DC-DC converter

This paper presents the results of a high-efficiency high-power (5kW) non-isolated bidirectional DC-DC converter. High efficiency, high stability and simplicity are the main goals, and no galvanic isolation is required. The proposed topology is a new BOOST converter with output filter where input and output inductors are coupled together which can be designed to be a minimum phase system. This topology provides therefore input and output current filtering, reducing noise and need of additional filters.
