Statistic moments of the total energy of potential systems and application to equivalent non-linearization

In this paper some properties of the total energy moments of potential systems, subjected to external white noise processes, are shown. Potential systems with a polynomial form of energy-dependent damping have been considered. It is shown that the analytical relations between the statistical moments of the energy associated with such systems can be obtained with the aid of the standard Ito calculus. Furthermore, it is shown that, for the stationary case, these analytical relations are very useful for the application of the equivalent non-linearization technique.

CBIR (content-based image retrieval) systems attempt to allow users to perform searches in large picture repositories. In most existing CBIR systems, images are represented by vectors of low level features. Searches in these systems are usually based on distance measurements defined in terms of weighted combinations of the low level features. This paper presents a novel approach to combining features when using multi-image queries consisting of positive and negative selections. Test of the European Joint Research Centre performance model for c-Si PV modules

The performance of ten c-Si PV modules is studied at different levels of illumination and module temperatures and is modeled in terms of relative efficiency with respect to Standard Testing Conditions (STC). A recently proposed model is tested in Nordic conditions for generic mono- and mc-Si devices with screen-printed cells as well as for some high-efficiency cell designs. Two of the modules are field aged. Averaged model coefficients are derived and compared to values found in the literature. Irradiance and module temperatures measured in 2011 are then used to estimate the expected annual energy yields. We investigate the superconducting lifetime of a long overdamped current-biased Josephson junction, in the presence of telegraph noise sources. The analysis is performed by randomly choosing the initial condition for the noise source. However, in order to investigate how the initial value of the dichotomous noise affects the phase dynamics, we extend our analysis using two different fixed initial values for the source of random fluctuations. Fabrication of Nb-based superconducting single electron transistor

Abstract We have fabricated Nb/(Al-)AlOx/Nb junctions with a single electron transistor (SET) geometry using conventional e-beam lithographic technique. It was possible to reach a clearly defined superconducting gap of 0.75 meV as measured in the current vs. voltage (I–V) characteristic curve, which corresponds to Tc of 4.6 K . The Josephson coupling energy was comparable to the charging energy, EJ≈Ec=30– 40 μeV .
New methods for analysing colour texture based on the Karhunen–Loeve transform and quantification

In this article, we offer an original study on the analysis of the texture of colour images based on Local Linear Transforms (LLT). Our colour approach is based on the separability of the data which reduces the number of texture parameters. We also propose the extension of Run Lengths (RL) and Co-occurrence Matrixes (CM) to colour images. In this respect, two different ways were explored (data merging and quantification). We finally present a comparative study showing the efficiency of the first method (LLT) as well as the complementary nature of the other methods (RL, CM).
Explicit signal to noise ratio in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces

This paper introduces a nonlinear feature extraction method based on kernels for remote sensing data analysis. The proposed approach is based on the minimum noise fraction (MNF) transform, which maximizes the signal variance while also minimizing the estimated noise variance. We here propose an alternative kernel MNF (KMNF) in which the noise is explicitly estimated in the reproducing kernel Hilbert space. This enables KMNF dealing with non-linear relations between the noise and the signal features jointly.
