The Synthesis, Characterization and Sintering of Nickel and Cobalt Ferrite Nanopowders

The NiFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 ferrites were synthesized by two methods – chemical sol-gel self-combustion method and the high frequency plasma chemical synthesis and magnetic properties, crystallite size, specific surface area of synthesized products are characterized. Nanopowders synthesized in the high frequency plasma are with specific surface area in the range of (28 – 30) m2/g (the average particle size (38 – 40) nm, crystallite size ~40 nm). The ferrite nanopowders obtained by sol-gel self-combustion method have the specific surface area of (37 – 43) m2/g (average particle size (26 – 31) nm, crystallite size (10 – 20) nm). The Effect of Dopants on Sintering and Microstructure of Lead-free KNN Ceramics

Lead-free potassium sodium niobate (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 (KNN) has been prepared via conventional ceramic processing method. The influence of 0.5 wt% - 1.5 wt% MnO2 and WO3 addition on the sintering, crystallographic structure, microstructure and dielectric properties of KNN has been investigated. Optimal sintering temperatures of KNN ceramics were observed to be in the narrow interval: 1090 °C - 1110 °C for MnO2 doped KNN; 1150 °C - 1170 °C for pure KNN and doped with WO3. XRD patterns showed that all the samples have single perovskite structure with monoclinic structure. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have raised a lot of interest, especially as adsorbing materials, because of their unique and well‐defined pore structures. One of the main challenges in the utilization of MOFs is their crystalline and powdery nature, which makes their use inconvenient in practice. Three‐dimensional printing has been suggested as a potential solution to overcome this problem. We used selective laser sintering (SLS) to print highly porous flow‐through filters containing the MOF copper(II) benzene‐1,3,5‐tricarboxylate (HKUST‐1). Luminescence properties induced by sintering of silica nanoparticles

The effect of sintering on the optical properties of silica nanoparticles, a mean diameter of ~14 nm, are investigated by absorption and luminescence experiments. The sintering is induced by a thermal treatment of 1000 °C for 272 hours; after that the sample is transparent, and emits a bright luminescence under UV excitation. Time resolved photoluminescence spectra excited by a tunable laser source allows to evidence four bands around 2.0 eV, 2.4 eV, 2.7 eV and 3.4 eV, peculiar to defects induced by the sintering.
