Wave Energy Assessment and Performance evaluation in Mediterranean Sea

The paper proposes a revolutionary device for the utilization of a new entry of renewable energy sources: sea wave. This technology is based on linear generators, able to converts directly a linear motion into electrical output, limiting to minimum the chain of energy conversion. A preliminary feasibility assessment considers a case study applied in Lampedusa, a small island in the Mediterranean Sea. Economic and environmental evaluations are here reported.

A sustainable energy production: Sea Wave in the small island of Ustica (Italy)

Nowadays the electrical energy production is based on fossil fuels in the greatest part of smaller islands in the Mediterranean Sea. Despite the availability, the renewable energy sources are practically unused, as landscape constraints. So, the paper presents the case of study of Ustica, a small island located at north of Sicily, in the middle of Mediterranean Sea. The present work relies on the topic of energy storage for Heat and Electricity applied to Heat Pump Water Heaters coupled with photovoltaic plants for Domestic Hot Water production. The main idea is to evaluate the possibility to exploit the water tank as heat storage for the produced photovoltaic energy and, where appropriate combined with electrical storage. An original control strategy of storage systems for the frequency stability of autonomous grids with renewable power generation

This work examines the operation of the autonomous power system of a geographical island assuming the integration of significant generation shares from renewable energy sources and the installation of the required storage systems. Demand Response for Integrating Photovoltaic Plants in Lampedusa Island

This paper presents the results of a simulation study concerning different Demand Response logics applied to Electric Storage Water Heaters on the island of Lampedusa. Electric Storage Water Heaters are the devices that are primarily used on the island to produce domestic hot water. The present paper reports the results of a simulation study regarding the impact of the adoption of heat pumps for domestic hot water production in the island of Lampedusa (Italy).
