The practical implementation of the goals of smart sustainable cities has different forms. This paper explores an example of the Danish smart city Aarhus, through which the so-called ‘Scandinavian third way’ of smart city development is being proposed. The foundations of the ‘third way’ are directly derived from the Scandinavian tradition of cooperation; it is supposed to be an alternative to the more commercial American model and the more centrally-controlled Asian tradition. Variable kinematics models for multilòayered smart plates

Families of layer-wise and equivalent single layer advanced finite elements for the geometrically nonlinear analysis of smart multilayered plates are formulated in a unified framework. The proposed modeling strategy reduces the multifield problems to an effective mechanical plate by the condensation of the electromechanical state into the plate kinematics, which is assumed as a variable order expansion along the plate thickness. Numerical results are presented to validate the proposed modeling approach and finite elements and to investigate their features.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is widely used in advanced logistic systems. Safety and security of such systems are utmost important to guarantee the quality of their services. However, such systems are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Development of lightweight anomaly based intrusion detection systems (IDS) is one of the key measures to tackle this problem. In this paper, we present a new distributed and lightweight IDS based on an Artificial Immune System (AIS). A PC-based instrument has been developed for the monitoring and control of a concentrated photovoltaic and thermal (CPVT) power plant. The instrument allows acquiring both electrical and thermal quantities. Moreover it implements the solar tracking algorithm used to optimize the power production.
