Early Antecedents of School Burnout in Upper Secondary Education : A Five-year Longitudinal Study

AbstractSchool burnout symptoms are prevalent among upper secondary education students, but thus far, very little is known about the background of these symptoms. The present study examined the extent to which school burnout symptoms (i.e., exhaustion and cynicism) among upper secondary education students have their roots in primary and lower secondary school and whether early antecedents of school burnout symptoms could be identified. The theme of this article is the the Italian feminist movement of the 1980s. That movement was characterised by political transformation and a crtitique of identity. The article takes as its point of departure the inaugural speech of the movement, the manifesto "Piu donne che uomini" (1983). The analysis that we present is inspired in the work of Michel Foucault. It aims to show to that the production of new feministic subjectivities, when fighting the symbolic dimension of masculine domination, has an intrinsically political character. A Pedagogical Proof of Arrow's Impossibility Theorem

In this note I consider a simple proof of Arrow's Impossibility Theorem (Arrow 1963). I start with the case of three individuals who have preferences on three alternatives. In this special case there are 133=2197 possible combinations of the three individuals' rational preferences. However, by considering the subset of linear preferences, and employing the full strength of the IIA axiom, I reduce the number of cases necessary to completely describe the SWF to a small number, allowing an elementary proof suitable for most undergraduate students. enric.sanchis@uv.es El trabajo irregular y el no remunerado tienen una importancia considerable en el Estado español, por lo que el análisis de la estructura y evolución del empleo no puede hacerse al margen de ellos. En este artículo se ofrece una visión de conjunto de ambos fenómenos a partir de algunas de las investigaciones llevadas a cabo durante los últimos años. Casi la totalidad del trabajo no remunerado se hace en el ámbito de las relaciones familiares. Se calcula que dos tercios de la carga total de trabajo que soporta la economía española es trabajo doméstico no remunerado, mayoritariamente hecho por mujeres.
