Social engagement from childhood to middle age and the effect of childhood socio-economic status on middle age social engagement: results from the Na…

2016

ABSTRACTSocial engagement has powerful effects on wellbeing, but variation in individual engagement throughout the lifecourse is wide. The trajectories may differ by gender and be affected by socio-economic status (SES). However, long-term development of social engagement is little studied and the effect of childhood SES on later-life social engagement remains obscure. We aimed to describe the social engagement development from childhood to middle age by gender and test the effect of childhood SES on middle age social engagement. Data (N=16,440, 51.3% male) are drawn from the on-going National Child Development Study, following British babies born in 1958. Social engagement was measured by …

Disability in Older People and Socio-Economic Deprivation in Italy: Effects on the Care Burden and System Resources

2021

The sustainability of European Long-Term Care systems faces the demographic and socio-economic circumstances, mainly the increasing ageing of the population, with its chronic disease conditions, and the simultaneous economic general crises, exacerbated by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Italian welfare, which is based on family care regimes and regional strategies, and is oriented to private or public care, is a relevant case study with which to analyze such a relationsh…

DIGITALIZATION OF ADULT EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

2021

Modern society has entered a new century in the process of increasing global change, among which human changes and their development sharply lag behind the changes in the techno-economic sphere. Global processes require overcoming this gap and creating a modern adult education system that shapes and develops human beings and, as a consequence, increases human capital. The article describes digital adult education as a factor in improving national human capital, its direct impact on human development as a whole, and as an employee. It also shows Ukraine's place in the human capital index of countries, which includes education as one of the rating points. With the changing nature of work, som…

In south-eastern France, the récent Bell-Beaker culture is marked by the presence of a regional Rhône-Provence group having complex relationships with other régional Bell-Beaker and regional final Neolithic groups. Natt, Sharon. 2016. Exploring Human Rights Conceptualisations in the United States: A study into knowledge and attitudes of participants connected to a social justice NGO. University of Jyväskylä. Department of Education. Concepts of human rights are present within our social, global and geo-political frameworks, yet their understandings are subject to infinite influences and interpretations. Long-term socio-economic impact of COVID-19 on sport sector

2021

The nature of the Covid-19 pandemic’s induced economic crisis is unprecedented: beyond the repeated health and economic shocks, the long-term effects on human capital, productivity and behaviour may also be long-lasting. One of the sectors hit particularly severe by the impacts of Covid-19 is sport. The very existence and work of sport organisations, clubs, professional sport leagues, fitness centres, athletes, coaches, sport staff, sport volunteers and sport-related business, including sport event organisers and sport media, have been battling with staying afloat by cutting all unnecessary expenses and consolidating costs while also trying to maintain the community feel of bringing people …
