Complications in dental implant surgery are possible. Bleeding complications have been described that may be serious, particularly in the floor of the mouth. We present two cases of sublingual hematomas during dental implant osteotomies that impeded but did not close the airway. The clinical courses of these patient's complications are reviewed. One patient had immediate hematoma formation while the other developed a hematoma overnight, presenting the next day. The treatment rendered was a precautionary in-hospital tracheotomy for the first patient and only compression control for the second. Models and Model Transformations Within Web Applications

Unlike traditional single-user desktop applications, web applications have separated memory and computational resources (the client and the server side) and have to deal with multiple user accounts. This complicates the development process. Is there some approach of creating web applications without thinking about web-specific aspects, as if we are developing stand-alone desktop applications? We say, “yes”, and that is where models and model transformations come in handy. The proposed model-driven approach simplifies the development of web applications and makes it possible to use a single code base for deploying both desktop and web-based versions of the software.
An Abstract Generic Framework for Web Site Verification

In this paper, we present an abstract framework for Web site verification which improves the performance of a previous, rewriting-based Web verification methodology. The approximated framework is formalized as a source-to-source transformation which is parametric w.r.t. the chosen abstraction. This transformation significantly reduces the size of the Web documents by dropping or merging contents that do not influence the properties to be checked. This allows us to reuse all verification facilities of the previous system WebVerdi-M to efficiently analyze Web sites. Fractures of the proximal humerus are an increasingly common type of injury. Mainly elderly patients with osteoporotic bone are affected. Whereas non-displaced and stable fractures are managed successfully with conservative treatment, there is no general agreement on the surgical strategy for displaced and unstable two- to four-part fractures. The clinical outcome is influenced by the fracture type and concomitant injury to the rotator cuff. Statins are one of the most commonly prescribed drugs in clinical practice. They are usually well tolerated and effectively prevent cardiovascular events. Most adverse effects associated with statin therapy are muscle-related. The recent statement of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) has focused on statin associated muscle symptoms (SAMS), and avoided the use of the term 'statin intolerance'. Infrared thermal imaging in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

OBJECTIVE. Musculoskeletal injuries occur frequently. Diagnostic tests using ionizing radiation can lead to problems for patients, and infrared thermal imaging could be useful when diagnosing these injuries. CONCLUSION. A systematic review was performed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of infrared thermal imaging in patients with musculoskeletal injuries. A meta-analysis of three studies evaluating stress fractures was performed and found a lack of support for the usefulness of infrared thermal imaging in musculoskeletal injuries diagnosis.

To elicit the effects of considering causality in the study of the interactions between RR interval and systolic pressure (SP) variability, the traditional noncausal cross-spectral analysis was compared with a causal method able to separate the two arms of the RR-SP regulatory loop. Estimates of coherence (K) and causal coherences from SP to RR (Ksr) and from RR to SP (Krs), and of noncausal (G) and causal (Gsr) baroreflex gain were evaluated at 0.1 Hz in 10 healthy young subjects in the supine position and after head-up tilt. Towards EEG-Based Haptic Interaction within Virtual Environments

International audience; Current virtual environments (VE) enable perceiving haptic stimuli to facilitate 3D user interaction, but lack brain-interfacial contents. Using electroencephalography (EEG), we undertook a feasibility study on exploring event-related potential (ERP) patterns of the user's brain responses during haptic interaction within a VE. The interaction was flying a virtual drone along a curved transmission line to detect defects under the stimuli (e.g., force increase and/or vibrotactile cues). Material and Methods The aim of the study was to evaluate retrospectively the indication for the use of RP models in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Helsinki University Central Hospital during 2009-2010.
