A replication study on the intuitiveness of programming language syntax

AbstractIn this article, we present a replication of an empirical experiment that evaluates intuitiveness and comprehensibility of keywords relating to different concepts in programming languages, originally conducted by Stefik and Gellenbeck. Novice programmers face many barriers when learning programming. One of these barriers is syntax, which for many languages is not designed based on empirical evidence. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt nenoteiksmes lietojumu Microsoft programmatūras rokasgrāmatās. Šis pētījums var būt noderīgs tehniskajiem rakstniekiem, kuri izstrādā jaunu tehnisko dokumentāciju un lietotājiem, kuri interpretē un veic darbības, kas atbilst lietotāju vajadzībām. Lai veikt pētījumu, tika analizēti nenoteiksmes, diskursa analīze un tehniskā dokumentācijas jēdzieni. Pētījuma mērķa sasniegšanai tika izmantotas kvantitatīvās un kvalitatīvās metodes. Pētījuma rezultāti ir parādījuši, ka visbiežāk sastopamā nenoteiksmes funkcija ir saliktā izteicēja sastāvdaļa. Tajā paša laika, nenoteiksmes vienkāršā aktīvā forma ir visbiežāk sastopamā forma.

Exploring the critical incident technique to encourage reflection during project-based learning

Previous research has reported on the challenge of promoting students' generic reflection during authentic project-based courses. This work explores a teaching intervention based on Flanagan's Critical Incident Technique (CIT) during a project-based software development course. The intervention aims at increasing students' awareness of their own learning and at encouraging reflective practice throughout the project. Students were asked to report on 'incidents' when they experienced learning during the course, and to reflect on the task itself at the end of the course. We review the recent progress in extracting the proton fluctuating substructure by studying exclusive processes at HERA, and the applications of these developments in the interpretation of the LHC heavy ion data.
