Validation of a computer-assisted system on classifying lower third molars
2010
Objectives: The present study evaluates the reliability of the Radio Memory® software (Radio Memory; Belo Horizonte, Brasil.) on classifying lower third molars, analyzing intra- and interexaminer agreement of the results. Study Design: An observational, descriptive study of 280 lower third molars was made. The corresponding orthopantomographs were analyzed by two examiners using the Radio Memory® software. The exam was repeated 30 days after the first observation by each examiner. Both intra- and interexaminer agreement were determined using the SPSS v 12.0 software package for Windows (SPSS; Chicago, USA). Results: Intra- and interexaminer agreement was shown for both the Pell and Gregory …
On reference star recognition and identification
2014
The paper deals with a research in the area of automation of positional star observations. In order to fully employ recent progress in imaging technologies, star image recognition and reference star identification process should gain comparable level of automation. A software package for this purpose has been developed in the Institute of Geodesy of the University of Latvia. It is capable of near-real-time image processing, star identification and astrometric position determination.
Analysis of the road traffic-induced pollution in two areas of Sibiu, Romania
2017
The current paper details a computer-aided research of the emission levels in two areas of the city of Sibiu, Romania. The research started from the numbers of motor vehicles passing through key segments of those two areas, located at entry points into the city of Sibiu. Using the software package Synchro Studio 7 and SimTraffic 7, the targeted crossroad areas were modelled and key indicators for the road traffic efficiency and for the emission levels were determined. These emission levels were then compared to real measured pollution values, which allowed both to assess the accuracy of the modelling and the influence of other pollution sources on the emission levels in those areas.
Spherical top data system (STDS) software for the simulation of spherical top spectra
1998
Abstract The Spherical Top Data System (STDS) software package for the simulation of spherical top spectra is presented. It consists of a single UNIX script with self-explanatory arguments allowing the non-expert user to calculate spectra from the results of the high resolution analyses performed over the recent decades on this type of molecules. More than one hundred parameter files are presently available including various band systems of 16 molecular species (among which methane is the most documented) and various types of calculations: rovibrational energy levels, i.r. absorption, Raman scattering and Stark coefficients. STDS is freely accessible by anonymous ftp at jupiter.u-bourgogne.…
Whole-Genome Analyses
2014
Abstract Average nucleotide identity (ANI) was proposed almost 10 years ago as a means to compare genetic relatedness among prokaryotic strains. It was found that values around 95% corresponded to the 70% DNA–DNA hybridization cut-off value that is widely used to delineate archaeal and bacterial species. ANI calculations are one of the many aspects and approaches that can be derived from comparative genomic data and used for taxonomic purposes. Here, an overview about the impact and current usage of ANI values is given together with details of the existing user-friendly package tool, the biology-oriented software package JSpecies, which can be used to generate two types of ANI calculations …
Use of the software ‘Poser4’ in reconstruction of accident and crime scenes
2000
The reconstruction of accident and crime scenes demands the full attention of the forensic working physician. Description by words is often difficult and liable to be misunderstood. Reconstruction in the original places of events are expensive and in some cases impossible. Computer graphics and animations give the possibility to construct the original course of events. Poser4 is a software package to perform these reconstructions in an easy and vivid way. We investigated the possibilities of reconstructing an accident with this software.
RTS2: Lessons learned from a widely distributed telescope network
2008
RTS2 (Remote Telescope System 2) is a highly modular open source telescope and observatory management software package. It evolved from RTS, which was developed in Python to control a telescope aimed at observing optical transients of γ ray burts. The development of a network system capable of operating robotic telescopes is both difficult and complicated. Along with continued software development one must be concerned with maintaining operations and obtaining results. This is a review of experiences gained building a network of robotic telescopes. It focuses on describing which issues are important during development of the robotic observatory software and requirements for future developme…
Customisation as a solution to misalignment between ERP system and business processes in SME context
2018
Ratkaisuksi tähän epäyhteensopivuuteen on usein esitetty yrityksen prosessien muokkaamista vastaamaan toiminnanohjausjärjestelmää.
Relationship between volume of submandibular salivary stones in vivo determined with cone-beam computer tomography and in vitro with micro-computer t…
2021
Background Successful removal of salivary stones depends on exact pretreatment information of the location, the size and shape of the stones. This study aimed to compare the volume of submandibular sialoliths determined by preoperative Cone-Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) scans with the volume of the removed stones on micro-Computer Tomography (micro-CT) scans. Material and Methods In this study, using twenty-one submandibular sialoliths, the pretreatment volumes in-vivo measured on CBCT were compared to the volumes of removed stones determined by micro-CT scans. The volume measured on micro-CT scans served as the gold standard. Pre-operative CBCT’s and in-vitro micro-CT’s were converted in…
