Lipidomic analysis is able to measure simultaneously thousands of compounds belonging to a few lipid classes. In each lipid class, compounds differ only by the acyl radical, ranging between C10:0 (capric acid) and C24:0 (lignoceric acid). Although some metabolites have a peculiar pathological role, more often compounds belonging to a single lipid class exert the same biological effect. Portable remote photoplethysmography device for monitoring of blood volume changes with high temporal resolution

The compact remote photoplethysmography device for monitoring of blood volume pulsations from human skin were developed. The prototype device comprises electronics board with twelve circullary oriented bright near-infrared LED illuminators, which are precisely controlled, high-speed video camera and battery charging circuit. Device was tested in laboratory and could be used for non-contact monitoring of human blood volume changes in palm.

Imaging of microbial interactions has so far been based on well‐established electron microscopy methods. This study presents a new way to study bacterial colonies and interactions between bacteria and their viruses, bacteriophages (phages), in situ on agar plates using helium ion microscopy (HIM). In biological imaging, HIM has advantages over traditional scanning electron microscopy with its sub‐nanometer resolution, increased surface sensitivity, and the possibility to image nonconductive samples. Bovine plasma hydrolysates' iron chelating capacity and its potentiating effect on ferritin synthesis in Caco-2 cells.

The low bioavailability of iron is one factor that contributes to its deficiency in the human diet. For this reason, it is necessary to find compounds that can form iron chelates so that these can be added to foods that contain iron to improve its bioavailability at the intracellular level. In this study, we assessed the relationship between bovine plasma hydrolysates' iron chelating ability and their degree of hydrolysis. The hydrolysate with the highest chelating capacity was fractionated and each fraction's chelating capacity was subsequently assessed. In vitro comparison of passive and continuous ultrasonic irrigation in curved root canals

BACKGROUND The efficacy of endodontic irrigation procedures can be compromised by the complexity of the root canal system. Delivering irrigants to the apical third of curved canals presents a particular challenge to endodontists. This study compared the effects of two ultrasonic irrigation techniques on the penetration of sodium hypochlorite into the main canal and simulated lateral canals of curved roots in extracted teeth. Summary The sensor kinase DcuS of Escherichia coli co-operates under aerobic conditions with the C4-dicarboxylate transporter DctA to form the DctA/DcuS sensor complex. Under anaerobic conditions C4-dicarboxylate transport in fumarate respiration is catalyzed by C4-dicarboxylate/fumarate antiporter DcuB.
