Biosimilar pharmaceuticals are emerging as patent protection on the original biopharmaceutical products expires. However, biopharmaceuticals are particularly complex molecules, and biosimilar insulins present special challenges. In part this reflects their structure and chemical modification after synthesis to attain a biologically active form. Their therapeutic window is narrow and the accuracy of their dosing is highly dependent on the formulation and quality of the administration device. Early and Later Predictors of Outcome in Brief Therapy: The Role of Real Relationship

Objectives The study examined whether clients who continued longer in brief therapy reported stronger associations of real relationship and working alliance with therapy outcome than clients who received very brief treatment. It also examined whether real relationship and working alliance assessed early in treatment predicted outcome differently from that assessed later in therapy. Method Fifty clients (32 women; Mage = 22.3 years) were recruited from a university counseling center. Magnetic properties of Co–Al, Ni–Al, and Mg–Al hydrotalcites and the oxides formed upon their thermal decomposition

The magnetic behaviour of Co–Al, Ni–Al, and Mg–Al hydrotalcites (HTlc) with a M2+/Al3+ molar ratio of 3 and carbonates in the interlayer, as well as the mixed oxides obtained after calcination at 823 K for 5 h, has been investigated by DC and AC magnetic susceptibility measurements and isothermal magnetisation. The samples were also characterised by ICP-OES and XRD. The magnetic measurements show that Co–Al and Ni–Al HTlcs behave as ferromagnets, with ordering temperatures of approximately 6–7 K in both cases, and displaying hysteresis loops at 2 K with coercive fields of 4.2 and 5.5 mT, respectively, whereas the Mg–Al-HTlc shows the expected diamagnetic behaviour. Local thermal equilibrium and ideal gas Stephani universes

The Stephani universes that can be interpreted as an ideal gas evolving in local thermal equilibrium are determined. Five classes of thermodynamic schemes are admissible, which give rise to five classes of regular models and three classes of singular models. No Stephani universes exist representing an exact solution to a classical ideal gas (one for which the internal energy is proportional to the temperature). But some Stephani universes may approximate a classical ideal gas at first order in the temperature: all of them are obtained. Finally, some features about the physical behavior of the models are pointed out.

Review of thermal infrared applications and requirements for future high-resolution sensors

High-resolution thermal infrared (TIR) remote sensing has a wide range of applications. In this paper, we describe the different applications and requirements identified in a literature review and during a consultation meeting with researcher experts in different fields. As a result, more than 30 applications were identified within three different fields: 1) land and solid Earth; 2) health and hazards; and 3) security and surveillance. A complete set of requirements (spatial, temporal, and radiometric resolution, algorithms used, and supporting data, among others) for each application is also provided. Knowledge of structure–property relationships is a key feature of materials design. The control of thermal transport has proven to be crucial for the optimization of thermoelectric materials. We report the synthesis, chemical characterization, thermoelectric transport properties, and thermal transport calculations of the complete solid solution series Cu_2ZnGeSe_(4–x)S_x (x = 0–4). Resolving the true band gap of ZrNiSn half-Heusler thermoelectric materials

N-type XNiSn (X = Ti, Zr, Hf) half-Heusler (HH) compounds possess excellent thermoelectric properties, which are believed to be attributed to their relatively high mobility. However, p-type XNiSn HH compounds have poor figures of merit, zT, compared to XCoSb compounds. This can be traced to the suppression of the magnitude of the thermopower at high temperatures. E_g = 2eS_(max)T_(max) relates the band gap to the thermopower peak. However, from this formula, one would conclude that the band gap of p-type XNiSn solid solutions is only one-third that of n-type XNiSn, which effectively prevents p-type XNiSn HHs from being useful thermoelectric materials. POSS-tetraalkylammonium salts: A new class of ionic liquids

A series of new polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane ionic liquids (POSS-ILs) based on the trimethylpropylammonium dielectric constants, which, conversely, display slight differences originating from the nature of the anions.
