Development of a Chiral DMAP Catalyst for the Dynamic Kinetic Resolution of Azole Hemiaminals
2017
A new catalyst for the dynamic kinetic resolution of azole hemiaminals has been developed using late-stage structural modifications of the tert-leucinol-derived chiral subunit of DMAP species.
Free-Standing Mono layer Two-Dimensional Supramolecular Organic Framework with Good Internal Order
2015
Utilizing dynamic self-assembly and self-sorting to obtain large-area, molecularly precise monolayered structures represents a promising approach toward two-dimensional supramolecular organic frameworks (2D SOF) or 2D supramolecular polymers. So far, related approaches suffer from small domain sizes, fragility and weak long-range internal order. Here we report on the self-assembly of a host-guest enhanced donor-acceptor interaction, consisting of a tris(methoxynaphthyl)-substituted truxene spacer, and a naphthalene diimide substituted with N-methyl viologenyl moieties as donor and acceptor monomers, respectively, in combination with cucurbit[8]uril as host monomer toward monolayers of an un…
Synthesis of l -[4-11 C]Asparagine by Ring-Opening Nucleophilic 11 C-Cyanation Reaction of a Chiral Cyclic Sulfamidate Precursor
2018
The development of a convenient and rapid method to synthesize radiolabeled, enantiomerically pure amino acids (AAs) as potential positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agents for mapping various biochemical transformations in living organisms remains a challenge. This is especially true for the synthesis of carbon-11-labeled AAs given the short half-life of carbon-11 (11 C, t1/2 =20.4 min). A facile synthetic pathway to prepare enantiomerically pure 11 C-labeled l-asparagine was developed using a partially protected serine as a starting material with a four-step transformation providing a chiral five-membered cyclic sulfamidate as the radiolabeling precursor. Its structure and absolute…
On Demand One-Pot Mild Preparation of Layered Double Hydroxides and Their Hybrid Forms: Advances through the Epoxide Route.
2019
Epoxide ring opening driven alkalinization process was explored with the aim of preparing layered double hydroxide (LDH) phases on demand, at room temperature. Employing iodide as nucleophilic agent, the precipitation reaction can be driven under much lower halide concentrations. This scenario favors the selective intercalation of concomitant bulky oxo anions as nitrate or perchlorate in the LDH products, allowing for the one-pot synthesis of an LDH able to delaminate in formamide. Even large dicarboxylic acids, - O2 C-(CH2 )n -CO2 - , with n up to 8, can be quantitively intercalated within the growing LDH phase, providing a versatile one-pot route for hybrid LDHs as well. Under the mild co…
Selective precipitation of alkyl dihalides using a newly synthesized water-soluble bisphosphorylpillar[5]arene
2016
Bisphosphorylpillar[5]arenes ( and ) were synthesized and used to study the host-guest complexation in organic solvents and water. The interactions between the guests and the phosphate of the hosts lead to strong binding towards alkyl dihalides and alkyldiammonium ions. may be used to detect or separate alkyl dihalides in water due to the rapid precipitation of the complex.
Solubilization by polysoaps
1994
The aqueous solubilization power of several series of micellar homopolymers and copolymers (''polysoaps'') is investigated. Using five insoluble or poorly water-soluble dyes, comparisons of the capacities are made with respect to the influence of structural variables such as the polymer backbone, the polymer geometry, the comonomer content, and the charge of the hydrophilic group. Some guidelines for polysoap structures suited for efficient solubilization are established. Noteworthy is that the solubilization capacities of the polysoaps are neither linked to the ability to reduce the surface tension of water, nor to the polarity of the solubilization sites deduced from spectroscopic probes.
Polymerizable and polymeric zwitterionic surfactants: 1. Synthesis and bulk properties
1991
Abstract The synthesis of a series of permanently zwitterionic surfactant monomers based on sulphobetaines and the preparation of their polymers is described. Solubilities, thermal properties and bulk structures of the zwitterionic polymers are studied with respect to their molecular architecture, and compared with cationic analogues. The various solubilities of the polymers can be correlated with their molecular geometry, enabling differentiation into distinct classes. This behaviour is paralleled by the observed bulk structures of the polymers where distinct classes of superstructures are present. However, independently of the molecular geometry, no thermal transition could be detected fo…
Cyclodextrins in Polymer Synthesis: Influence of Acrylate Side Groups on the Initial Rate of Radical Polymerization of Various Acrylate/Methylated β…
2001
Methylated β-cyclodextrin was used to complex the hydrophobic monomers n-propyl acrylate (1), n-butyl acrylate (2), n-pentyl acrylate (3), n-hexyl acrylate (4), and cyclohexyl acrylate (5) respectively yielding the corresponding water-soluble host/guest-complexes 1a−5a. The complexes were polymerized in water by free radical mechanism and the initial polymerization rates (v0) determined. We found that v0 increases as follows: 1a (12.5), 2a (27.5), 3a (44.2), 5a (49.4), 4a (75.8 × 10-6 mol·L-1·s-1). To investigate the influence of the hydrophobic character of the guest monomers on the reaction rate, the water solubilities of the uncomplexed monomers 1−5 were determined by HPLC measurements.…
