Benzyl Alcohol Assisted Synthesis and Characterization of Highly Reduced Graphene Oxide (HRG)@ZrO2 Nanocomposites
2017
We demonstrate a one-step solvothermal synthesis of HRG@ZrO2 nanocomposites using benzyl alcohol as solvent and stabilizing ligand. The as-synthesized HRG@ZrO2 hybrid nanocomposites showed a homogeneous distribution of the ZrO2 NPs (≈ 5 nm) onto HRG nanosheets. High resolution (HR)TEM, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the presence of cubic ZrO2. The presence of benzyl alcohol as stabilizing ligand was demonstrated by ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The reduction of graphene oxide to HRG was also realized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). A study of the HRG@ZrO2 formation mec…
Solvothermal synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of homometallic Co(II) and Cu(II) chains with double di(4-pyridyl)sulfide as bridges
2012
Abstract Two new coordination polymers {[Co(μ-4,4′-dps)2(H2O)2](NO3)2·2(4,4′-dps)·4H2O}n (1) and {[Cu(μ-4,4′-dps)2(H2O)2](NO3)2·2H2O}n (2) [4,4′-dps = di(4-pyridyl)sulfide] have been synthesized by solvothermal reactions between the nitrate salts of cobalt(II) (1) and copper(II) (2) and the 4,4′-dps molecule. Compounds 1 and 2 have been characterized by elemental analysis, thermal analysis (TG/DTA), vibrational spectroscopy, single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and variable-temperature magnetic measurements. Compounds 1 and 2 are cationic chain compounds of formula {[M(μ-4,4′-dps)2(H2O)2]n2n+ [M = Co(II) (1) and Cu(II) (2)] with double 4,4′-dps bridges, uncoordinated nitrate anions, an…
Phase selective synthesis of ZnS nanoparticles from structurally new dithiocarbamate precursor
2015
Abstract A phase selective solvothermal synthesis of ZnS (wurzite) nanoparticles with a flower-like morphology using a dithiocarbamate precursor, [Zn(4-dpmpzdtc)2(dpmpz)] (1) (where, dpmpz=(diphenylmethyl)piperazine), is described. The nanoparticles were identified as ZnS (wurzite) with the particle size of about 3 to 10 nm by scanning and transmission electron microscopy as well as powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). In addition, the precursor complex 1 was characterized using single crystal X-ray diffraction.
Solvothermal Synthesis of Molybdenum–Tungsten Oxides and Their Application for Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting
2018
Molybdenum and tungsten oxides are of interest as semiconductors for the production of clean and sustainable energy. Here we show that synergistic effects arising from a combination of noncrystalli...
