Background:\ud \ud This cross-sectional study aimed to examine associations between excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) with falls and falls related conditions in older adults.\ud \ud Methods:\ud \ud To assess EDS, the Epworth Sleepiness Scale was used, with a score of ≥11/24 points indicating EDS. Number of falls and fall history (at least one) in the last year were recorded. Timed Up and Go test (TUG) was used to assess fall risk. Sarcopenia was defined by SARC-F tool. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of levetiracetam as prophylactic treatment for migraine with aura with high frequency of attacks. BACKGROUND: Migraine with aura with high frequency of attacks could represent a very demanding therapeutic problem. Craniopharyngioma is a rare dysontogenetic benign tumor. Patients frequently suffer from endocrine deficiencies, sleep disturbances, and obesity due to pituitary and hypothalamic lesions. A self-assessment daytime sleepiness questionnaire (German version of the Epworth Sleepiness Scale) was used to evaluate 79 patients with childhood craniopharyngioma. Objective To assess the effects of isolated hyoid suspension on subjective and objective parameters of obstructive sleep apnea and to evaluate changes in upper airway anatomy with the help of standardized magnetic resonance imaging. Effects of cumulative sleep restriction on self-perceptions while multitasking

Summary This study addressed a rarely studied question of self-perceptions of performance and overall functional state during cumulative sleep restriction and the ensuing recovery period. Twenty healthy male volunteers, aged 19–29 years, were divided into a sleep restriction group (n = 13) and a control group (n = 7). On the first 2 nights, the sleep restriction group had an 8-h sleep opportunity that was restricted to 4 h for the next 5 nights, and then restored to 8 h for the last 2 nights. The mismatch negativity (MMN) and P3 of auditory event-related potentials were studied during subjectively and objectively (physiologically) defined sleepiness under optimal stimulus conditions for MMN elicitation. The MMN and P3 were elicited by either small or large unattended auditory deviants presented to the left ear. The Relationship Between Sleep Characteristics and Unmet Physical Activity Need in Older Women

Objective: We examined among older women the association of sleep quality, daytime tiredness, and sleep duration with unmet physical activity need, that is, wishing to be more physically active but perceiving no opportunity for it. Method: Cross-sectional logistic regression analyses among women aged 74 to 86 years (Finnish Twin Study on Aging, third wave, n = 302). Results: Thirty-one participants reported unmet physical activity need. Pilot study on the validity of the pupillographic sleepiness test in children and adolescents

Abstract Objective To report preliminary validation data for the pupillographic sleepiness test (PST) in children and adolescents. Methods Twelve patients (13.1±4.4years of age) underwent the multiple sleep latency test (MLST) and three PSTs at 09:00, 11:00, and 13:00 on one single day. Correlations were tested between mean sleep latency and gender-adjusted z -values of the natural logarithm of the pupillary unrest index (zlnPUI). Results Spearman's correlation ( P -value) between the zlnPUI values obtained at 09:00 and 11:00 with the MSL was r S =−0.641 (0.025) and r =−0.553 (0.062).
