Perturbation of metabolic pathways mediates the association of air pollutants with asthma and cardiovascular diseases.

2018

Background: Epidemiologic evidence indicates common risk factors, including air pollution exposure, for respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, suggesting the involvement of common altered molecular pathways. Objectives: The goal was to find intermediate metabolites or metabolic pathways that could be associated with both air pollutants and health outcomes (“meeting-in-the-middle”), thus shedding light on mechanisms and reinforcing causality. Methods: We applied a statistical approach named ‘meet-in-the-middle’ to untargeted metabolomics in two independent case-control studies nested in cohorts on adult-onset asthma (AOA) and cardio-cerebrovascular diseases (CCVD). We compared the results …

Apolipoprotein E Regulates Amyloid Formation within Endosomes of Pigment Cells.

2015

International audience; Accumulation of toxic amyloid oligomers is a key feature in the pathogenesis of amyloid-related diseases. Formation of mature amyloid fibrils is one defense mechanism to neutralize toxic prefibrillar oligomers. This mechanism is notably influenced by apolipoprotein E variants. Cells that produce mature amyloid fibrils to serve physiological functions must exploit specific mechanisms to avoid potential accumulation of toxic species. Pigment cells have tuned their endosomes to maximize the formation of functional amyloid from the protein PMEL. Here, we show that ApoE is associated with intraluminal vesicles (ILV) within endosomes and remain associated with ILVs when th…

Enquête sur les archives ouvertes françaises menée par Couperin en 2019 : résultats et analyses

2020

French Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are, for 89% of the respondents to the survey, now having their own open repository, or declaring to be in the implementation phase (compared to 82% in 2017 and only 62% in 2014). It can therefore be considered that almost all HEIs now offer a green open access repository or signalling solution to their researchers. The « still in progress » or suspended projects are rather related to the current recomposition of the Higher Education landscape. The most obvious obstacles to the latest implementations remain both the low involvement of researchers in the project and the human resources allocated. There is a slight but real increase in the rate of i…

Enquête Archives Ouvertes COUPERIN 2017 : résultats de l’enquête

2017

Analyzing the Correlation of Classical and Community-aware Centrality Measures in Complex Networks

2021

International audience; Identifying influential nodes in social networks is a fundamental issue. Indeed, it has many applications, such as inhibiting epidemic spreading, accelerating information diffusion, preventing terrorist attacks, and much more. Classically, centrality measures quantify the node's importance based on various topological properties of the network, such as Degree and Betweenness. Nonetheless, these measures are agnostic of the community structure, although it is a ubiquitous characteristic encountered in many real-world networks. To overcome this drawback, there is a growing trend to design so-called community-aware centrality measures. Although several works investigate…

We present detailed airborne in situ measurements of cloud microphysics in two midlatitude cirrus clouds, collected as part of the Cirrus Coupled Cloud-Radiation Experiment (CIRCCREX). A new habit recognition algorithm for sorting cloud particle images using a neural network is introduced. Both flights observed clouds that were related to frontal systems, but one was actively developing whilst the other dissipated as it was sampled. The two clouds showed distinct differences in particle number, habit and size. However a number of common features were observed in the 2DS dataset, including a distinct bimodal size distribution within the higher temperature regions of the clouds. This may resu…

L'essere supplito

2013

Attraverso una rilettura decostruttiva del libro delta della Metafisica di Aristotele l'autrice rintraccia la centralità della contingenza per la costituzione della sostanza. L'Alcibiade I di Platone diventa una sorta di banco di prova della tesi enunciata.Settore M-FIL/01 - Filosofia Teoretica
