From the shade into the sun: exploring pride and shame in students with special needs in Finnish VET

This paper reports on a study of the dynamics of social emotions and social bonds between students and class teachers by analysing the narratives of students receiving intensive special support in the Finnish vocational education and training (VET) system. Pride refers to a strong and safe involvement in interaction, and shame implies intimidated social bonds. The analysis is based on abductive content analysis for which Greimas’ actant model worked as an analysis tool. This paper investigates resource integration and social interaction as the two core processes of value co-creation and co-destruction in a service system. We applied a structured literature review as our research methodology to develop a framework to depict the components of value co-creation and co-destruction processes and to understand the behavioral drivers of service system actors as well as the positive and negative value outcomes derived through resource integration and social interaction. A Comparison of Dyadic and Social Network Assessments of Peer Influence.

The present study compares two methods for assessing peer influence: the longitudinal actor–partner interdependence model (L-APIM) and the longitudinal social network analysis (L-SNA) Model. The data were drawn from 1,995 (49% girls and 51% boys) third grade students ( Mage= 9.68 years). From this sample, L-APIM ( n = 206 indistinguishable dyads and n = 187 distinguishable dyads) and L-SNA ( n = 1,024 total network members) subsamples were created. Koulukiusaamisen ennaltaehkäseminen osana luokan toimintakulttuuria

Teimme tapaustutkimuksen alkuopetuksen luokkaan, jossa tutkimme paljon huomiota saanutta ilmiötä koulukiusaamista. Tutkimme mitä kiusaaminen on oppilaiden ja opettajan mielestä, esiintyykö tutkimusluokassa kiusaamista, miten siihen puututaan ja kuinka luokanopettaja ennaltaehkäisee koulukiusaamisen syntymistä. Käytimme tutkimiseen kouluetnografista lähestymistapaa, johon sisältyi havainnointia, haastatteluja sekä sosiometrisen mittauksen toteuttaminen luokassa. The purpose of the study was to examine how social competence and other generic skills can be developed in teacher education using a pedagogical model called Integrative Pedagogy. This model is based on the idea of integrating the four basic components of expertise: Theoretical knowledge, practical knowledge, self-regulative knowledge, and sociocultural knowledge. AbstractThis chapter explores how the entangled relationship between the material and social in teachers’ perceptions of change can be empirically investigated. More specifically, the chapter adopts a DeleuzoGuattarian rhizoanalytic assemblage approach and the notion of becoming to capture the dynamic and fluid nature of social and material affects.
