Banach elements and spectrum in Banach quasi *-algebras

2006

A normal Banach quasi -algebra (X;A_0) has a distinguished Banach - algebra X_b consisting of bounded elements of X. The latter -algebra is shown to coincide with the set of elements of X having fi nite spectral radius. If the family P(X) of bounded invariant positive sesquilinear forms on X contains suffi ciently many elements then the Banach -algebra of bounded elements can be characterized via a C -seminorm defi ned by the elements of P(X).

Spectrum and Pseudo-Spectrum

2019

In this book all Hilbert spaces will be assumed to separable for simplicity. In this section we review some basic definitions and properties; we refer to Kato (Perturbation theory for linear operators, Die Grundlehren der mathematischen Wissenschaften, Band 132. A Combination of Visible-Light Organophotoredox Catalysis and Asymmetric Organocatalysis for the Enantioselective Mannich Reaction of Dihydroquinoxal…

2019

[EN] An enantioselective photooxidative Mannich reaction of dihydroquinoxalinones with ketones by the merger of organophotoredox and asymmetric organocatalysis is described. This protocol features very mild reaction conditions using simple and cheap catalysts (Eosin Y and (S)-Proline) for the synthesis of chiral quinoxaline derivatives with good to high yields (up to 94%) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee).

A Highly Active System for the Metal-Free Aerobic Photocyanation of Tertiary Amines with Visible Light: Application to the Synthesis of Tetraponerine…

2015

A highly efficient metal-free catalytic system for the aerobic photocyanation of tertiary amines with visible light is reported. The use of air as terminal oxidant offers an improved safety profile compared with pure oxygen, the used compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) light sources are highly economical, and no halogenated solvents are required. This system not only proves to be effective for a wide variety of trialkylamines, pharmaceuticals, and alkaloids but remarkably also allows the lowest catalyst loading (0.00001 mol% or 0.1 ppm) ever reported for an organic dye. Bruylants reactions and C-alkylation/decyanations were performed on the obtained α-aminonitriles to demonstrate the postfunctio…

Nontemplate Synthesis of CH3NH3PbBr3 Perovskite Nanoparticles

2014

To date, there is no example in the literature of free, nanometer-sized, organolead halide CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskites. We report here the preparation of 6 nm-sized nanoparticles of this type by a simple and fast method based on the use of an ammonium bromide with a medium-sized chain that keeps the nanoparticles dispersed in a wide range of organic solvents. These nanoparticles can be maintained stable in the solid state as well as in concentrated solutions for more than three months, without requiring a mesoporous material. This makes it possible to prepare homogeneous thin films of these nanoparticles by spin-coating on a quartz substrate. Both the colloidal solution and the thin film emit l…

Perineural Invasion is a Strong Prognostic Moderator in Ampulla of Vater Carcinoma

2018

Objective Ampulla of Vater carcinoma (AVC) has a broad spectrum of different prognoses. As such, new moderators of survival are urgently needed. We aimed at clarifying the prognostic role of perineural invasion in AVC. Methods Using PubMed and SCOPUS databases, we conducted the first systematic review and meta-analysis on this topic. Results Analyzing 29 articles for a total of 2379 patients, we found that the presence of perineural invasion increased the risk of all-cause mortality more than 2 times (relative risk [RR], 2.07; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.78-2.42 [P < 0.0001]; hazard ratio [HR], 2.72; 95% CI, 1.86-3.97 [P < 0.0001]), of cancer-specific mortality more than 6 times (…

Decoding vibrational states of Concanavalin A amyloid fibrils.

2015

International audience; Amyloid and amyloid-like fibrils are a general class of protein aggregates and represent a central topic in life sciences for their involvement in several neurodegenerative disorders and their unique mechanical and supramolecular morphological properties. Both their biological role and their physical properties, including their high mechanical stability and thermodynamic inertia, are related to the structural arrangement of proteins in the aggregates at molecular level. Significant variations may exist in the supramolecular organization of the commonly termed cross-β structure that constitutes the amyloid core. In this context, a fine knowledge of the structural deta…

Towards an automatic lab-on-valve-ion mobility spectrometric system for detection of cocaine abuse.

2017

A lab-on-valve miniaturized system integrating on-line disposable micro-solid phase extraction has been interfaced with ion mobility spectrometry for the accurate and sensitive determination of cocaine and ecgonine methyl ester in oral fluids. The method is based on the automatic loading of 500μL of oral fluid along with the retention of target analytes and matrix clean-up by mixed-mode cationic/reversed-phase solid phase beads, followed by elution with 100μL of 2-propanol containing (3% v/v) ammonia, which are online injected into the IMS. The sorptive particles are automatically discarded after every individual assay inasmuch as the sorptive capacity of the sorbent material is proven to b…

Pressure-induced magnetic switching and linkage isomerism in K0.4Fe4[Cr(CN)6]2.8 x 16 H2O: X-ray absorption and magnetic circular dichroism studies.

2008

The effect of applied pressure on the magnetic properties of the Prussian blue analogue K0.4Fe4[Cr(CN)6]2.8 x 16 H2O (1) has been analyzed by dc and ac magnetic susceptibility measurements. Under ambient conditions, 1 orders ferromagnetically at a critical temperature (T(C)) of 18.5 K. Under application of pressure in the 0-1200 MPa range, the magnetization of the material decreases and its critical temperature shifts to lower temperatures, reaching T(C) = 7.5 K at 1200 MPa. Pressure-dependent Raman and Mossbauer spectroscopy measurements show that this striking behavior is due to the isomerization of some Cr(III)-C[triple bond]N-Fe(II) linkages to the Cr(III)-N[triple bond]C-Fe(II) form. A…
