Counter Speech : Une nouvelle stratégie politico-linguistique en Allemagne face à une crise globale
2017
International audience; This presentation presents preliminary findings of a second enlarged exploratory study embedded in a comprehensive research project in the field of sociolinguistics. Our theoretical approach is based on the resilience concept which we adapted to the field of sociolinguistic. This approach allows us to explore at the same time the co-evolution and co-adaption of interlocutors and language especially by facing a crisis. This analysis shows that especially in Germany the ongoing refugee crisis exacerbates heavily political tensions. The increasing use of « Counter speech » in order to respond to « Hate speech » leads to an « evolutionary and adaptive spiral » in Germany…

Spoken Language Development and the Challenge of Skill Integration
2019
The development of phonological awareness, the knowledge of the structural combinatoriality of a language, has been widely investigated in relation to reading (dis)ability across languages. However, the extent to which knowledge of phonemic units may interact with spoken language organization in (transparent) alphabetical languages has hardly been investigated. The present study examined whether phonemic awareness correlates with coarticulation degree, commonly used as a metric for estimating the size of children's production units. A speech production task was designed to test for developmental differences in intra-syllabic coarticulation degree in 41 German children from 4 to 7 years of a…
Going in Homer: The Role of Verb-Inherent Actionality Within Self-Propelled Motion-Event Encoding
2019
The paper aims at investigating the encoding of self-propelled motion events in Homeric Greek in the light of the typology of motion events, taking into account the case of to go. The verbal class of the self-propelled motion refers to those verbs expressing the idea of a simple translational motion, such as to go, to move, without any information about the manner of motion (see, by contrast, the class of the manner-of-motion verbs, such as to run, to swim) or about the path of motion (see, by contrast, the class of the path verbs, such as to enter, to exit). According to Talmy (2000), world languages can be distinguished depending on whether they prototypically express the semantic compone…

The topic of the essay is the complex p…
On the suffix automaton with mismatches
2007
International audience; In this paper we focus on the construction of the minimal deterministic finite automaton S_k that recognizes the set of suffixes of a word w up to k errors. We present an algorithm that makes use of S_k in order to accept in an efficient way the language of all suffixes of w up to k errors in every window of size r, where r is the value of the repetition index of w. Moreover, we give some experimental results on some well-known words, like prefixes of Fibonacci and Thue-Morse words, and we make a conjecture on the size of the suffix automaton with mismatches.
