La tradizione dell’architetto-scrittore ha molti precedenti nella storia dell’architettura italiana. Dal Rinascimento all’Ottocento era caratteristica di certi architetti il presentare le loro idee in forma di trattati sistematici. Sul modello di Vitruvio, Alberti produsse il modello rinascimentale per tale tipo di scrittura. Fu seguito dalla trattatistica di Serlio e Palladio. Serlio compose una serie di volumi che costituirono veri e propri manuali per l’architettura, iniziando dall’edificio antico sino ad arrivare a riflessioni su lavori futuri non ancora realizzati. V-Belt Winding along Archimedean Spirals During the Variator Speed Ratio Shift

Starting from a previous model for the shift mechanics of rubber belt variators, this lecture elaborates practical design formulas for the torque and the axial thrust making use of the very close resemblance of the belt path to a linear spiral of Archimedes along a large part of the arc of contact. In addition, as an alternative to the modern calculus tools, it is shown how the drive variables can be equally calculated applying some propositions of Archimedes’ classical treatise πeρί ‘eλίκων (On Spirals).

Il saggio analizza, attraverso un'ampia ricerca transculturale, la ricorrenza del simbolismo della spirale in rapporto ai temi della maternità e della commemorazione dei defunti al fine di evidenziare eventuali comuni contenuti semantici, e non rapporti meramente formali, tra i diversi contesti in cui appaiono simboli spiraliformi.

Among the death due to the cardiac problems, the arrhythmias play a major role, particularly the atrial disorders. This alarming situation attracts an intense research, but it is still limited by the availability of experimental models to reproduce the triggering mechanisms of arrhythmias at the cellular level and extensions of these anomalies. Whether they occur on a healthy or pathological heart, or they are benign or potentially dangerous (risk of sudden death), the arrhythmias constitute an important chapter of the cardiology.
