This paper proposes a non-stationary time-continuous simulation model for wideband shallow underwater acoustic (UWA) channels based on measured Doppler power spectrums (DPSs). Measurement-based channel simulators are essential for the test, optimization, and performance analysis of UWA communication systems. The aim is to fit the DPS of the simulation model to that of the measured UWA channel. This letter presents the results of a measurements campaign carried out at 2050 MHz with the aim of characterizing the time dispersion of multipath propagation when the transmit and receive antennas are placed near and situated on rooftops or mounted on masts. Abstract In a plate heat exchanger, heat transfer from the hot to the cold fluid is a multi-dimensional conjugate problem, in which longitudinal heat conduction (LHC) along the dividing walls often plays some role and can not be neglected. Large-scale , or end-to-end, LHC is always detrimental to the exchanger’s effectiveness. On the contrary, if significant non-uniformities exist in the distribution of either convective heat transfer coefficient, small-scale , or local, LHC may actually enhance the exchanger’s performance by improving the thermal coupling between high heat transfer spots located on the opposite sides of the dividing wall.
UWB Channel Measurements for Hand-Portable Devices: A Comparative Study

On-body UWB signal propagation is analyzed using two different types of UWB antennas. For the study, measurements of the frequency response by means of a VNA (vector network analyzer) are performed at 2001 discrete frequency points in the 3 to 6 GHz range. Separated measures are taken for four different transmitter positions on the head and six receiver positions on the body. Channel estimation parameters, such as mean excess delay, delay spread and path loss are obtained. Results are similar for both types of antennas regarding path loss exponent and average power delay profiles.
