PBH assisted search for QCD axion dark matter

2022

The entropy production prior to BBN era is one of ways to prevent QCD axion with the decay constant $F_{a}\in[10^{12}{\rm GeV},10^{16}{\rm GeV}]$ from overclosing the universe when the misalignment angle is $\theta_{\rm i}=\mathcal{O}(1)$. As such, it is necessarily accompanied by an early matter-dominated era (EMD) provided the entropy production is achieved via the decay of a heavy particle. In this work, we consider the possibility of formation of primordial black holes during the EMD era with the assumption of the enhanced primordial scalar perturbation on small scales ($k>10^{4}{\rm Mpc}^{-1}$). In such a scenario, it is expected that PBHs with axion halo accretion develop to ultracomp…

Swift & Fermi GRBs with LIGO-Virgo run O3a data

2023

We search for gravitational-wave transients associated with gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) detected by the Fermi and Swift satellites during the first part of the third observing run of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo (2019 April 1 15:00 UTC-2019 October 1 15:00 UTC). A total of 105 GRBs were analyzed using a search for generic gravitational-wave transients; 32 GRBs were analyzed with a search that specifically targets neutron star binary mergers as short GRB progenitors. We find no significant evidence for gravitational-wave signals associated with the GRBs that we followed up, nor for a population of unidentified subthreshold signals. We consider several source types and signal morphologies, an…

Infrated photometry of NGC 1893

2008

The independence of the star formation processes with respect to the environmental conditions is controversial. In particular it is not clear whether star formation in the outer Galaxy, where the environmental conditions are, theoretically, less conducive, occurs in the same way as in the inner Galaxy. We investigate the population of NGC 1893, a young cluster (~3-4Myr) in the outer part of the Galaxy (galactic radius >11kpc) in order to explore the effects of environmental conditions on star forming regions. We present the infrared observations obtained with the IRAC camera on board of the Spitzer Space Telescope and analyze the color-color diagrams to establish the membership of stars wit…

Old MS stars in young moving groups

2009

The associations and moving groups of young stars are excellent laboratories to investigate the stellar formation in the solar neighborhood. Past results confirmed that a non-negligible fraction of old main-sequence stars is present in the lists of members of the young stellar kinematic groups. A detailed study on the properties of these samples is needed to separate the young stars from old main-sequence stars with similar space motion, in order to identify the origin of these structures. Our intention is to characterize the sample of stars members of the young moving groups and determine their age distribution to quantify the contamination by old main-sequence stars, in particular, in the…

APOKASC-2 catalog of Kepler evolved stars

2019

We present a catalog of stellar properties for a large sample of 6676 evolved stars with Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment spectroscopic parameters and Kepler asteroseismic data analyzed using five independent techniques. Our data include evolutionary state, surface gravity, mean density, mass, radius, age, and the spectroscopic and asteroseismic measurements used to derive them. We employ a new empirical approach for combining asteroseismic measurements from different methods, calibrating the inferred stellar parameters, and estimating uncertainties. With high statistical significance, we find that asteroseismic parameters inferred from the different pipelines have sys…

Star formation region NGC 6530

2005

We present astrometry and BVI photometry, down to V~22, of the very young open cluster NGC 6530, obtained from observations taken with the Wide Field Imager camera at the MPG/ESO 2.2m Telescope. We have positionally matched our optical catalog with the list of X-ray sources found in a Chandra-ACIS observation, finding a total of 828 common stars, 90% of which are pre-main sequence stars in NGC 6530. Activity and accretion in {gamma} Vel and Cha I

2015

We use the fundamental parameters (effective temperature, surface gravity, lithium abundance, and radial velocity) delivered by the GES consortium in the first internal data release to select the members of Gamma Vel and Cha I among the UVES and GIRAFFE spectroscopic observations. A total of 140 Gamma Vel members and 74 Cha I members were studied. The procedure adopted by the GES to derive stellar fundamental parameters provided also measures of the projected rotational velocity (vsini). We calculated stellar luminosities through spectral energy distributions, while stellar masses were derived by comparison with evolutionary tracks. The spectral subtraction of low-activity and slowly rotati…

VLT/Flames spectroscopic data of NGC 6530

2007

Mechanisms regulating the evolution of pre-main sequence stars can be understood by studying stellar properties such as rotation, disk accretion, internal mixing and binarity. To investigate such properties, we studied a sample of 332 candidate members of the massive and populous star forming region NGC 6530. We want to select cluster members by using different membership criteria, to study the properties of pre-main sequence stars with or without circumstellar disks. We use intermediate resolution spectra including the LiI6707.8{AA} line to derive radial and rotational velocities, binarity and to measure the Equivalent Width of the lithium line; these results are combined with X-ray data t…

Abundance signature of M dwarf stars

2020

Most of our current knowledge on planet formation is still based on the analysis of main-sequence, solar-type stars. Conversely, detailed chemical studies of large samples of M-dwarf planet hosts are still missing. We aim to test whether the correlations between the metallicity, individual chemical abundances, and mass of the star and the presence of different type of planets found for FGK stars still holds for the less massive M dwarf stars. Methods to determine in a consistent way stellar abundances of M dwarfs from high-resolution optical spectra are still missing. The present work is a first attempt to fill this gap. We analyse in a coherent and homogeneous way a large sample of M dwarf…

XMM-Newton Extended Survey of Taurus

2007

The XMM-Newton Extended Survey of the Taurus Molecular Cloud (XEST) surveys the most populated ~5 square degrees of the Taurus Molecular Cloud, using the XMM-Newton X-ray observatory to study the thermal structure, variability, and long-term evolution of hot plasma, to investigate the magnetic dynamo, and to search for new potential members of the association. We present overall correlations with fundamental stellar parameters that were derived from the previous literature. The present overview paper introduces the project and provides the basic results from the X-ray analysis of all sources detected in the XEST survey. Comprehensive tables summarize the stellar properties of all targets su…
