In this chapter, we introduce an approach toward enhancing the quality of strategy implementation. As a framework, we use cybersecurity strategy implementation planning and execution. Justification for this work is the observed need to be able to perform strategy readjustment processes quickly and in an agile way, when needed. This requires processes and practices that are simple enough and executable with small resources in a relatively short timeframe. Is the ADA/EASD algorithm for the management of type 2 diabetes (January 2009) based on evidence or opinion? A critical analysis

The ADA and the EASD recently published a consensus statement for the medical management of hyperglycaemia in patients with type 2 diabetes. The authors advocate initial treatment with metformin monotherapy and lifestyle modification, followed by addition of basal insulin or a sulfonylurea if glycaemic goals are not met (tier 1 recommendations). All other glucose-lowering therapies are relegated to a secondary (tier 2) status and only recommended for selected clinical settings. We sub-divided our statement in 2 sections. section I discusses the pathophysiology, atherogenicity and measurement issues, while section II is focused on the effects of drug and lifestyle modifications. Suggestions for future research in the field are highlighted at the end of section II. Each section includes Conclusions.

This paper analyses the disclosure on the directors’ remuneration, whose primary role in a company, makes their information of particular interest to different stakeholders. The authors’ aim is to investigate the official documents (for 2009) of the 50 most capitalized listed Italian companies, in order to verify the compulsory and/or voluntary disclosure provided about the remuneration paid to their directors. The findings will be summarized in a disclosure index whose correlation with some parameters (selected on the basis of specific research hypothesis) concerning board structure and company size will be assessed.

Abstract Environmental impacts of small scale projects are often assessed poorly, or not assessed at all. This paper examines the usability of the Rapid Impact Assessment Matrix (RIAM) as a tool to prioritize project proposals for small scale water restoration projects in relation to proposals' potential to improve the environment.
