Quantum gravitational decoherence from fluctuating minimal length and deformation parameter at the Planck scale

2020

Schemes of gravitationally induced decoherence are being actively investigated as possible mechanisms for the quantum-to-classical transition. Here, we introduce a decoherence process due to quantum gravity effects. We assume a foamy quantum spacetime with a fluctuating minimal length coinciding on average with the Planck scale. Considering deformed canonical commutation relations with a fluctuating deformation parameter, we derive a Lindblad master equation that yields localization in energy space and decoherence times consistent with the currently available observational evidence. Compared to other schemes of gravitational decoherence, we find that the decoherence rate predicted by our mo…

The Schouten - Nijenhuis bracket, cohomology and generalized Poisson structures

1996

Newly introduced generalized Poisson structures based on suitable skew-symmetric contravariant tensors of even order are discussed in terms of the Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket. The associated `Jacobi identities' are expressed as conditions on these tensors, the cohomological contents of which is given. In particular, we determine the linear generalized Poisson structures which can be constructed on the dual spaces of simple Lie algebras.

Efficient resummation of high post-Newtonian contributions to the binding energy

2021

A factorisation property of Feynman diagrams in the context the Effective Field Theory approach to the compact binary problem has been recently employed to efficiently determine the static sector of the potential at fifth post-Newtonian (5PN) order. We extend this procedure to the case of non-static diagrams and we use it to fix, by means of elementary algebraic manipulations, the value of more than one thousand diagrams at 5PN order, that is a substantial fraction of the diagrams needed to fully determine the dynamics at 5PN. This procedure addresses the redundancy problem that plagues the computation of the binding energy with respect to more "efficient" observables like the scattering an…

DEFORMATION QUANTIZATION OF COADJOINT ORBITS

2000

A method for the deformation quantization of coadjoint orbits of semisimple Lie groups is proposed. It is based on the algebraic structure of the orbit. Its relation to geometric quantization and differentiable deformations is explored.

Quantum deformation of the Poincare supergroup and kappa -deformed superspace

1994

The classical $r$-matrix for $N=1$ superPoincar{\'e} algebra, given by Lukierski, Nowicki and Sobczyk is used to describe the graded Poisson structure on the $N=1$ Poincar{\'e} supergroup. The standard correspondence principle between the even (odd) Poisson brackets and (anti)commutators leads to the consistent quantum deformation of the superPoincar{\'e} group with the deformation parameter $q$ described by fundamental mass parameter $\kappa \quad (\kappa^{-1}=\ln{q})$. The $\kappa$-deformation of $N=1$ superspace as dual to the $\kappa$-deformed supersymmetry algebra is discussed.

Fluid membranes and2dquantum gravity

2011

We study the RG flow of two dimensional (fluid) membranes embedded in Euclidean D-dimensional space using functional RG methods based on the effective average action. By considering a truncation ansatz for the effective average action with both extrinsic and intrinsic curvature terms we derive a system of beta functions for the running surface tension, bending rigidity and Gaussian rigidity. We look for non-trivial fixed points but we find no evidence for a crumpling transition at $T\neq0$. Finally, we propose to identify the $D\rightarrow 0$ limit of the theory with two dimensional quantum gravity. In this limit we derive new beta functions for both cosmological and Newton's constants.

Operator approach to the Gluing Theorem in String Field Theory

1999

An algebraic proof of the Gluing Theorem at tree level of perturbation theory in String Field Theory is given. Some applications of the theorem to closed string non-polynomial action are briefly discussed

Considerations on super Poincare algebras and their extensions to simple superalgebras

2001

We consider simple superalgebras which are a supersymmetric extension of $\fspin(s,t)$ in the cases where the number of odd generators does not exceed 64. All of them contain a super Poincar\'e algebra as a contraction and another as a subalgebra. Because of the contraction property, some of these algebras can be interpreted as de Sitter or anti de Sitter superalgebras. However, the number of odd generators present in the contraction is not always minimal due to the different splitting properties of the spinor representations under a subalgebra. We consider the general case, with arbitrary dimension and signature, and examine in detail particular examples with physical implications in dimen…
