Effect of inter-crystal scatter on estimation methods for random coincidences and subsequent correction.

Random coincidences can contribute substantially to the background in positron emission tomography (PET). Several estimation methods are being used for correcting them. The goal of this study was to investigate the validity of techniques for random coincidence estimation, with various low-energy thresholds (LETs). Simulated singles list-mode data of the MADPET-II small animal PET scanner were used as input. The simulations have been performed using the GATE simulation toolkit. Aggregation and sedimentation of active Brownian particles at constant affinity.

We study the motility-induced phase separation of active particles driven through the interconversion of two chemical species controlled by ideal reservoirs (chemiostats). As a consequence, the propulsion speed is non-constant and depends on the actual inter-particle forces, enhancing the positive feedback between increased density and reduced motility that is responsible for the observed inhomogeneous density. For hard discs, we find that this effect is negligible and that the phase separation is controlled by the average propulsion speed. The simplex dispersion ordering and its application to the evaluation of human corneal endothelia

A multivariate dispersion ordering based on random simplices is proposed in this paper. Given a R^d-valued random vector, we consider two random simplices determined by the convex hulls of two independent random samples of sizes d+1 of the vector. By means of the stochastic comparison of the Hausdorff distances between such simplices, a multivariate dispersion ordering is introduced. Main properties of the new ordering are studied. Algorithms for classification and taxonomy are proposed in this chapter based information entropy (IE) and its production. The 38  N- aryloxazolidinone-5-carboxamides (NCAs), for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) protease (PR) inhibition, are classified using seven characteristic chemical properties of different moieties: R 1/2 , R 3–6 on different phenyls and R 7 . Order-disorder phase transition in random-walk networks

In this paper we study in detail the behavior of random-walk networks (RWN's). These networks are a generalization of the well-known random Boolean networks (RBN's), a classical approach to the study of the genome. RWN's are also discrete networks, but their response is defined by small variations in the state of each gene, thus being a more realistic representation of the genome and a natural bridge between discrete and continuous models. RWN's show a clear transition between order and disorder. h analogue of Newton's binomial formula

In this letter, the $h$--analogue of Newton's binomial formula is obtained in the $h$--deformed quantum plane which does not have any $q$--analogue. For $h=0$, this is just the usual one as it should be. Furthermore, the binomial coefficients reduce to $\frac{n!}{(n-k)!}$ for $h=1$. \\ Some properties of the $h$--binomial coefficients are also given. \\ Finally, I hope that such results will contribute to an introduction of the $h$--analogue of the well--known functions, $h$--special functions and $h$--deformed analysis.
