Beside iconography, the statuary types, associations and contexts of the portraits are treated, in order to understand the meanings and the role of the honors payed to the domus Augusta by the cities of Roman Sicily in shaping the new cultural landscape of the province after Augustus.

Il contributo esamina la decorazione di alcune statue lignee del Cinquecento e del Seicento della Sicilia Occidentale che, al pari di quelle dell'altra parte dell'Isola, offrono, malgrado ci siano giunti pochi esempi rispetto a quelli citati nei documenti, una significativa campionatura sulla ricchezza delle vesti. La decorazione dei simulacri, quasi sempre affidata all'oro e a pochi e simbolici colori, secondo la tecnica dell'estofados, riflette talvolta il gusto dell'epoca. The aim of the research is to test how VR and AR technologies can contribute to a virtuous reconnection between the museums, where archaeological works of art are exhibited, and the sites where these works come from. The connection between the museum and the site will be operated with panoramic images generated with SfM photogrammetric tools; these images will set up a twofold reconnection: i) between the work of art and the building where it was hosted; ii) between the building and the site, with the landscape around. The work aims to investigate the main steps of a virtual reconstruction process of ancient statues, inspecting theoretical and technical approaches. Two fragmentary Roman statues from the "Sanctuary of Isis", inside the Archaeological Park of Lilibeo-Marsala (Italy), were chosen as a case study. I MONUMENTI AI SOVRANI SPAGNOLI IN SICILIA NELLA SECONDA METÀ DEL SEICENTO: IL CASO DI FILIPPO IV A PALERMO E DI CARLO II A MESSINA-Nella seconda metà del Settecento vennero eretti in Sicilia due grandiosi monumenti per celebrare gli ultimi re di Spagna della Casa d'Asburgo: il “teatro” di Filippo IV nel piano del palazzo Reale di Palermo (dal 1661) e il gruppo scultoreo con la statua equestre di Carlo II (dal 1680) nella piazza della cattedrale di Messina.
