Bibliometric analysis of absorptive capacity
2017
Abstract This study contributes to our understanding of absorptive capacity (AC) by reviewing AC articles systematically using two types of blibliometric co-citation analysis – bibliometric co-citation and bibliometric cartography – for the last 25 years. In total, we analyzed 336 articles (using HistCite ) and 2088 articles (using VOSviewer ), respectively, finding five research streams in AC: (1) intra-organizational learning; (2) inter-organizational learning; (3) knowledge transfer; (4) dynamic capability; and (5) micro-foundations. This integrative literature review of AC adds to the categorization of the literature, links the international business research to AC, and provides promisi…
Business models of FinTechs – Difference in similarity?
2021
Abstract The FinTech industry is gradually maturing and offers a wide range of financial services on the global stage. Still, the understanding of FinTech business models remains at its infancy with a shortage of cross-country comparisons. This paper aims to determine the differences in business model attributes of FinTechs in five rapidly emerging FinTech hotspots in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Survey results from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Russia, accompanied by cluster analysis, enable us to provide unique in-depth evidence on FinTech business models. Across the selected countries, we observe significant differences in the attributes of FinTech business models: key act…
Interorganizational network and innovation: a bibliometric study and proposed research agenda
2015
Purpose – This paper aims to explore the latent structure of the literature on interorganizational network and innovation as well as to map the main themes and empirical advances in this research stream. Design/methodology/approach – Using bibliometric coupling, the authors analyze the citation patterns in 67 management studies regarding innovation networks, published in ISI-journals from January 1996 to October 2012. Findings – The authors identify the conceptual orientations that studies share. Bibliometric analysis allows us to draw an overview of how this field of research has developed, recognizing in essence six main clustered research themes: networks as a framework that sustains fi…
Introduction to the special issue
2016
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to set the papers included in the special issue into their unique contextual stage of entrepreneurial eco-systems in Nordic and Baltic countries. Design/methodology/approach – The editorial first presents the current status of entrepreneurship in the Nordic and Baltic regions. It then provides an overview of the papers included in this special issue, while highlighting their contributions. Finally, it concludes with suggestions for further research, while pointing out promising areas for future investigations. Findings – The papers included in this special issue help advance the understanding of important aspects of entrepreneurship in general, and wi…
Engineering a Digital Twin for Manual Assembling
2021
The paper synthesizes our preliminary work on developing a digital twin, with learning capabilities, for a system that includes cyber, physical, and social components. The system is an industrial workstation for manual assembly tasks that uses several machine learning models implemented as microservices in a hybrid architecture, a combination between the orchestrated and the event stream approaches. These models have either similar objectives but context-dependent performance, or matching functionalities when the results are fused to support real-life decisions. Some of the models are descriptive but easy to transform in inductive models with extra tuning effort, while others are purely ind…
Sulfidation Mechanism of Pure and Cu-Doped ZnO Nanoparticles at Moderate Temperature: TEM and In Situ XRD Studies
2012
International audience; Sulfidation mechanism of pure and Cu-doped ZnO nanoparticles (Cu0.03Zn0.97O and Cu0.06Zn0.94O) at 250 and 350 degrees C was studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and in situ synchrotron XRD. For nondoped ZnO, we observed by TEM that partial reaction with H2S is accompanied by the formation of voids at the ZnO/ZnS interface. This phenomenon (known as the Kirkendall effect) confirms that sulfidation of nanosized ZnO by gaseous H2S proceeds via the outward growth of ZnS: Zn2+ and O2- are transferred to the external (ZnS/gas) surface, where zinc is combined with sulfur and oxygen reacts with protons yielding H2O. During sulfidation of Cu-doped ZnO, the caviti…
Surface characterization of functional poly(diacetylene) and poly(butadiene) mono- and multilayers
1982
The surface properties of Langmuir-Blodgett mono- and multilayers of a variety of amphiphilic poly(diacetylene)s and poly(butadiene)s were investigated by contact angle, streaming potentialζ, ellipsometry, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS) measurements. Captive air and octane angles varied between approximately 60° and 105° for hydrophobicx-layers and 31° to 46° for hydrophilic surfaces depending on the particular head group, whereas advancing angles determined via the vertical plate method are considerably higher. Negative streaming potentials were obtained for all surfaces. Positively charged monolayers yielded less negativeζ- potential values (−28 mV) than negatively charged (−…
Morphometric and hydraulic geometry assessment of a gully in SW Spain
2016
Abstract Gully erosion represents one of the most significant types of land degradation in the Mediterranean areas, giving place to important on- and off-site effects. In this paper, a second-order gully located in SW Spain is analyzed. Along the gully, 28 cross-sections were established and measured with a Leica TCRM1102 laser total station, approximately every 6 months from 2001 to 2007. The sections were located at variable distance, placing them in areas where active erosion was evident. In total, 13 field measurements were carried out, and the geometric characteristics of 28 cross-sections were obtained. Morphometric analyses were carried out in both the main gully and a tributary reac…
Rainfall-runoff modelling of ephemeral streams in the Valencia region (eastern Spain)
2002
This paper presents preliminary results from the application of a transfer-function rainfall–runoff model to ephemeral streams in Mediterranean Spain. Flow simulations have been conducted for two small catchments (Carraixet and Poyo basins), located in close proximity to one another yet with significantly different geological characteristics. Analysis of flow simulations for a number of high-flow events has revealed the dominant influence of the rainfall on the catchment response, particularly for high-rainfall events. Particular success has been attained modelling the highest magnitude events in both catchments and for all events in the faster responding (Poyo) catchment. In order to inves…
River Conservation and Phytodepuration in a Mid-Mediterranean Streambed: A Sicilian Case Study
2016
AbstractFor landslide mitigation purposes, a system of two screen dams was created along the main channel of the Capreria River in Sicily. The de facto constructed wetlands occasioned behind the flow-path barriers produced, for several years, an appreciable reduction of organic load of the upstream municipal wastewaters from the nearby town of Riesi, Italy. This coincidence inspires the prospect of promoting a multifunctional role for these slope-stabilization works, thereby allowing them to be viewed from an intriguing and innovative planning perspective.
