Effects of Kinesiotape® taping on plantar pressure and impact acceleration during walking

Summary Objectives The aim of this study was to analyse the plantar pressure pattern, contact time, stride rate and impact acceleration in the shank during walking with and without Kinesio Tape (KT®) placed on two muscle groups: peroneus and triceps surae. Methods Among the subjects, 29 (12 men, 17 women) participated in the study. KT® was placed on the triceps surae and peroneus and participants walked at two different speeds (V1: 0.73 m/s; V2: 1.30 m/s) with and without KT®. Markerless 2D kinematic analysis of underwater running : A deep learning approach

Kinematic analysis is often performed with a camera system combined with reflective markers placed over bony landmarks. This method is restrictive (and often expensive), and limits the ability to perform analyses outside of the lab. In the present study, we used a markerless deep learning-based method to perform 2D kinematic analysis of deep water running, a task that poses several challenges to image processing methods. The fatigue of the musculoskeletal system during running may decrease the ability of the body to absorb those shock waves and increase the risk of injury. Relationship between off-ice testing variables and on-ice speed in women's collegiate synchronized figure skaters: implications for training.

The purpose of the current investigation was to identify any existing relationships between off-ice performance measures and on-ice performance quantified by speed and acceleration. Twenty-seven women (age 19 +/- 1 year; body mass (59.5 +/- 6.8 kg; height 164.6 +/- 6.35 cm; body fat 23.2 +/- 3.9%) who were collegiate synchronized figure skaters volunteered for the investigation. Effect of 5% body weight forward pulling on dynamics of treadmill running

Forward pulled running on a treadmill is known to increase mechanical and decrease metabolic constrains relative to normal running. This experimental situation was used to investigate the variations of the mechanical parameters induced by the pulling. Ten subjects ran during 3 min at individually predetermined constant speeds of 16.4 ± 1.4 km · h-1 on a treadmill while being forward pulled by a load equal to 5% of their body weight. Simulation of Dense Polymer Systems in Two and Three Dimensions

Dense polymer systems are modeled by self- and mutually avoiding walks on lattices. Both simple models where the step length is one lattice spacing and more complicated models where the step length is distinctly longer and may fluctuate (“bond fluctuation model”) are discussed, and it is shown that the computer simulation of such models gives useful insight to understand the thermodynamic phase behavior and the relaxational dynamics of dense polymer solutions and polymer melts. The huge demands in computing power needed for a successful simulation of such systems can be covered by parallel computers such as the multitransputer facility of the University of Mainz.
