Development of a 3D CZT detector prototype for Laue Lens telescope

We report on the development of a 3D position sensitive prototype suitable as focal plane detector for Laue lens telescope. The basic sensitive unit is a drift strip detector based on a CZT crystal, (similar to 19x8 mm(2) area, 2.4 mm thick), irradiated transversally to the electric field direction. The anode side is segmented in 64 strips, that divide the crystal in 8 independent sensor (pixel), each composed by one collecting strip and 7 (one in common) adjacent drift strips. The drift strips are biased by a voltage divider, whereas the anode strips are held at ground. Abstract Inorganic pigments in paintings and polychromed sculptures are studied by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse stripping voltammetry using micro-sample coatings in Paraloid B72-film modified electrodes. Characteristic cathodic and anodic differential pulse profiles were obtained in the +0.4 to −1.0 V vs. SCE potential range for different cadmium, copper, lead, mercury and zinc pigments used in traditional colour palettes. Formation and Stability of Cadmium(II)/Phytate Complexes by Different Electrochemical Techniques. Critical Analysis of Results

In the present work the stability constants of various cadmium(II)/phytate (Phy) species were determined at T = 298.15 K in NaNO3(aq) at I = 0.1 mol·L−1 by DP-ASV (Differential Pulse Anodic Stripping Voltammetry) and by potentiometric titrations using an ISE-Cd2+. Cyclic voltammograms were also recorded to check the electrochemical behavior of cadmium in the presence of phytate. The results were analyzed together with previous data determined by ISE-H+ measurements. ATLAS beam test results

Many different configurations of electronics and-semiconductor strip detectors were studied in 1995 using the ATLAS tracking detector test area at the H8 beam-line of the CERN SPS. A significant fraction of these investigations are presented elsewhere in this volume and this paper will concentrate on the results with silicon strip detectors read out with electronics preserving the pulse height information. Data has been collected with the ADAM, APV5 and FElix read-out chips on a number of different detectors. Ferrimagnetic Heisenberg chain; influence of a random exchange interaction

We report on the magnetic behavior of ‘‘rigid’’ ferrimagnetic chains isolated in bimetallic complexes of the EDTA and ‘‘flexible’’ ones obtained in the amorphous variety. As shown by LAXS, the only noteworthy difference in the amorphous state is the random distribution of bond angles between nearest neighbors within chains. The ‘‘rigid’’ bimetallic chains in CoNi(EDTA)6H2O are described in terms of Heisenberg model with an exchange coupling J=−7.5 K. The behavior of the amorphous variety somewhat differs, following the law X=AT−0.8 typical of REHAC. Characterization of Pumice-Supported Ag–Pd and Cu–Pd Bimetallic Catalysts by X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and X-Ray Diffraction

Bimetallic Ag–Pd and Cu–Pd catalysts supported on pumice have been prepared in order to be used in the selective hydrogenation of dienes. The catalysts were obtained by the classical impregnation method and in the case of the Cu–Pd system also by organometallic precursors. They were analysed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). XPS allowed us to determine the surface distribution and chemical state of the two elements; XRD yielded the lattice parameters and allowed us to establish the possible formation of alloys. Evidence of intramolecular electron transfer between two metallic atoms in a bimetallic complex by electrochemical methods

The electrochemical properties of the monomeric complex [(η5-C5H5)(μ-η5:η1-C5H4(CH2)2P(C6H5)2TiCl2] 1 and the heterobimetallic complex [(η5-C5H5)(μ-η5:η1-C5H4(CH2)2P(C6H5)2TiCl2][RuCl2(C6H4(CH3)(C3H7))] 2 have been studied by cyclic voltammetry, controlled potential electrolysis and rotating disk electrode voltammetry. An unexpected electron transfer between the two heterobimetallic atoms has been observed. This transfer takes place via an intramolecular interaction, hence via a chloride bridge. Electrochemical simulation has been carried out to verify experimental results and to obtain the kinetic constant of the proposed square scheme.

Abstract A new series of hybrid organometallic-inorganic layered magnets with formula [Z III Cp * 2 ] [M II Ru III (ox) 3 ] ( Z III =Co and Fe; M II =Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, and Zn; ox=oxalate: Cp * =pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) has been prepared. All of these compounds are isostructural to the previously reported [ Z III Cp * 2 ] [ M II M III (ox) 3 ] ( M III =Cr, Fe) series and crystallize in the monoclinic space group C 2/ m , as found by powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The synthesis, structure, and physical properties of the series of molecular magnets formulated as [ZII(bpy)3][ClO4][MIICrIII(ox)3] (ZII = Ru, Fe, Co, and Ni; MII = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn; ox = oxalate dianion) are presented. All the compounds are isostructural to the [Ru(bpy)3][ClO4][MnCr(ox)3] member whose structure (cubic space group P4(1)32 with a = 15.506(2) A, Z = 4) consists of a three-dimensional bimetallic network formed by alternating MII and CrIII ions connected by oxalate anions.
