All metazoan animals comprise a body plan of different complexity. Since-especially based on molecular and cell biological data-it is well established that all metazoan phyla, including the Porifera (sponges), evolved from a common ancestor the search for common, basic principles of pattern formation (body plan) in all phyla began. Common to all metazoan body plans is the formation of at least one axis that runs from the apical to the basal region; examples for this type of organization are the Porifera and the Cnidaria (diploblastic animals). The X13-X13.1 is one of the most considerable cubicles in the catacomb. It consists of a quadrangular funerary chamber preceded by a short dromos placed along the gallery X. Ricerche nella catacomba di Villagrazia di Carini

The Quaderno Digitale 9 is dedicated to the archaeological researches conducted in the Early Christian catacomb of Villagrazia di Carini until year 2015. The essay of G. Schirò presents the results of the excavations carried out from 2008 to 2011 in the Gallery IX and the structural analysis of 36 burials. Marco Correra, in the second essay, presents the analysis of the types of closure of the tombs so far excavated, in comparison with other funerary contexts in Sicily, Sardinia and North Africa. Finally, Francesco Scirè and Marta Marescalchi illustrate the project drawn up for the enjoyment of the most representative sectors of the monument, whose visit was inaugurated in May 2015.

This book is dedicated to the archaeological excavations and to the consolidation of the structures of cubicle X13 in the catacomb of Villagrazia di Carini (PA). In 2015 the interesting funerary chamber was seriously damaged by the collapse of the ceiling; from 2016 to 2019, the realization of the recovery and restoration project by the Pontificia Commissione di Archeologia Sacra has been the occasion for the study of the rock-cut architectures and of the structural characteristics of the cubicle, one of the most remarkable private funerary spaces in the Early Christian and byzantine cemetery of Carini.

Enterovirus B species typically cause a rapid cytolytic infection leading to efficient release of progeny viruses. However, they are also capable of persistent infections in tissues, which are suggested to contribute to severe chronic states such as myocardial inflammation and type 1 diabetes. In order to understand the factors contributing to differential infection strategies, we constructed a chimera by combining the capsid proteins from fast-cytolysis-causing echovirus 1 (EV1) with nonstructural proteins from coxsackievirus B5 (CVB5), which shows persistent infection in RD cells. Factors affecting the distribution of recent lacustrine ostracoda from the Caicedo de Yuso-Arreo Lake (Western Ebro Basin, Spain)

Recent Ostracoda assemblages of the Caicedo de Yuso Lake have been described as representative of palustrine/lacustrine environments in Iberian temperate lakes. This study considers the changes in assemblages at a fixed station during two consecutive annual cycles, as well as their distribution in summer and winter profiles of the lake. Total sample-assemblages have been quantified as species diversities, measured by the Shannon-Wiener index H (S). The trends of this index are compared to physical parameters (temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, CO2) of the bottom waters of this lake. New Evidence of the Real Interest Rate Parity for OECD Countries Using Panel Unit Root Tests with Breaks

This paper tests for real interest parity (RIRP) among the nineteen major OECD countries over the period 1978:Q2-1998:Q4. The econometric methods applied consist of combining the use of several unit root or stationarity tests designed for panels valid under cross-section dependence and presence of multiple structural breaks. Our results strongly support the fulfillment of the weak version of the RIRP for the studied period once dependence and structural breaks are accounted for.
